Hi all,

It seems to me that at least some people at GW are forgetting their own fluff. The problem I have is in regards to this picture;

http://www.games-workshop.com/MEDIA_CustomProductCatalog/m2610579a_WDDigital2XL.jpg

Now, I know its only a trivial thing but, as a White Scars player myself, I noticed the un-fluffiness of the dreadnought in the White Scars army. The white Scars don't use dreadnoughts because confining a warrior's' spirit in a sarcophagus is against their beliefs (http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/White_Scars#Organization (last sentence of the organisation section)) not to mention that they are too slow to keep up with the rest of the army.

You would think that the people who make the fluff would stick to it.

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

The want to sell more miniature. So, they make White Scars have dreadnoughts.
Simple, right?

Maybe they are a white scars successor chapter which uses dreadnoughts? Fluff is the most easiest thing to fit around in 40k, everything goes

No, it were white scars.

Or maybe they are too lazy to make a White Scars army and just throw some Black Reach models in with it. On the other hand, one model out of place doesn't mean GW's going down the toilet fluff-wise, it's been doing that for years. You could also argue that the Alpha Legion, being masters of subterfuge, suddenly have an Iron Warriors machine in their ranks for no reason.

Although this is possible, the chapter in the picture has the colour scheme and iconography of the white scars. Also, the same army was used in a battle report i White Dwarf a few months ago IIRC and was named as the White Scars.

Did you read the article accompanying the picture? You know, the one where they explain the Dreadnought?

For thirteen years I had a dog with fur the darkest black. For thirteen years he was my friend, oh how I want him back.

Well according to the new Chaos Dex.. the 13th Black Crusade did nothing to Cadia.. Abaddon is still waiting to get through.

I have an extremely old White Dwarf where a White Scars army had a dreadnaught.

So... maybe they have some special fluff or just don't care. haha

I thought they did have them, just it was exceptionally rare compared to the other chapters.

They've been reusing that army of White Scars which includes the Dreadnought for a bit now. Its been showing up quite consistently. Do the White Dwarf staff love White scars or something?

That picture was from a game.

Consider that as per the current rules you can run a slaanesh chaos space marine army with eldar allies.

Now ask again if GW cares about fluff precedent.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

That's because there aren't separate armies for Slaanesh Marines and GW decided to pander and removed all the specific variations of armies from codexes. Now you have an absolutely idiotic system of taking special characters for limited customizations.

Ugh, white scars DO have dreadnoughts! It's an exceptionally RARE thing though, but it DOES happen, usually a white scar will allow himself to be entombed only under specific circumstances. Usually revenge.

Have you read the actual battle reports where they forget their own rules?

Having a White Scar painted army dare to include a dreadnought is trivial in comparison.
