£125,000 Stretch Goal - Broga, Wereofor Thegn
Comment
FANTASTIC! We've reached £100,000, which means ALL of the original noble stretch goals have been achieved, and this unlocks many, many goodies - not the least of which is the "DARKLANDS, UHTRED & NOBLES" reward worth well over £1,200; yet you can grab it for just £700, around a 42% saving from recommended retail price!
With another stretch goal knocked over, it's time to unveil the next one, and it's superb. Hot on the heels of the Gesíthas is another amazing Angelcynn miniature - Broga, the first of our Wereoforas or man-boars - and a Thegn to boot! He is also the first of our Eoforas, East Anglians, who reside on the east coast of Angle-land.
Click on the image for a larger version
Broga is a monstrous commander and will stand on a 60mm base. He'll be around 50mm tall to the eye, so he'll be a big 'un!
As it states above, Broga is FREE to any backer that has pledged for the "DARKLANDS, UHTRED & NOBLES" or "YOU'RE THEIR DESCENDANT" rewards, and a little bit cheaper for anybody who has pledged for the "DARKLANDS & UHTRED", "DARKLANDS & UHTRED, EARLIER" or "THE SWEET SPOT" rewards; increase your pledge by £20 if you've chosen the latter two rewards, and by £25 to get him if you've chosen any other reward!

Snakes with nipples? Or indeed, snakes with any sort of mammary apparatus? I'll be interested to see how boar-man turns out, though.

The idea behind the Khthones is that they're not a naturally evolved species; rather, they were designed as such by the... gosh guys, help me out here: were it the Byzantes or Atlantaeans? Aaanyway, that means they were basically slapped together in whatever fashion would entertain their masters more. ...And of course, in true, let's not call it Japanese, fashion this involves both monstrous a monstrous and slithery nature, as well as aforementioned mammary apparati.

It's been implied that the Gorgorar (snake-ladies) were, perhaps, sex-slaves for the Atlanteans before the Kthones rebelled against them and escaped
so no doubt they were engineered to please some pretty messed up tastes

Well, I have a slot in my 40K Daemon army for a Slaaneshi Prince with a TBC snake person's name on it, so the more twisted the better for my purposes!

Now explain why the Fomoraic ice construct has a butt crack.
(It probably says something about me that I notice details like this.)

Actually I think Mierce-miniatures on the KS comments went a bit past implying that, earlier today.
Game could do without such details IMO, but eh. I can always not buy the models.
Anyway, MM individually contacting me regarding my KS pledge and actually shipping some stuff early, combined with a lot of positivity around pretty much most everything darklands-related from most here pushed me into buying a Tarvax starter and Shaaroc, the Drackox [sic?] just now so there's no cash to get another Khthonish unit anyway, realistically

Ok, I'll give it a go!
The crack isn't a necessary part of the erm.... butt mechanism? but a feature allowing the two large muscles to drive the legs independently (imagine having a single butt muscle, your legs just wouldn't work) and the same would apply, even without a digestive system. I'm not familiar enough with the model to know if there is an "aperture" or not, but if there is, then its fair to assume that in Darklands, once summoned, even magical creatures need to eat, and everybody poops,

Well, I'll be thrilled if these rules take off, but for the interim I'd be using the model for warhammer fantasy... and you can run 2 of any rare monster, so I might want to run 2 (probably ghorgons for beastmen... if I can somehow cram them onto the base).
These would do best on GW's new 100mm x 150mm base, but unfortunately beastmen don't have any monsters on that newer huge base size. So, I'll see what I can do with them when I get them!

Ah, only dipping a toe or two in the water then? That works
They'd do much better as proxies for that abominable new huge chaos thing, but if beastmen is what you've got, I'd suggest that, in my experience, most everything fits with sufficient amounts of vaseline, and a hammer

So will the savrar be the standard foot infantry for the khthones? I might have to end up with some snakes rather than Brythonaid whose dragons I prefer (but they're stuck with a bunch of puny humans).
I've got a pile of prepainted D&D and Pathfinder minis that I'm more than likely going to dump this week, which should net me quite a significant chunk of paypal fun.
I may have to lower my pledge to a nominal fee (since I won't be getting my paypal credit for a few days), but I hope to bump it back up once things are all said and done and surveys get sent out.
Still want to see some Liskar!
Does anybody have a finished/ built Hirakoth? The figure has been finished right? Or any size comparisons with the snakes that have already been released? Curious how they stack up size- wise. I know there were a few back in the banelegion days.

The Savrar are destined to be the human size foot troops for the Khthones I've not seen any size comparison shots for any of the finished snakes (they havn't yet been shipped to us KS1 backers so you're dependant of people who bought independantly posting them) but the Mierce site does have clear shots of several on 60mm bases

I think I'll need to get the Byzantii big encounter host. I also would really like either the Norse host, or maybe if I could scrape one together myself an Atlantes or Gorgones one. Plus the commanders. Plus the fantasy Scottish/Irish characters. I'm a sucker for their human models.
