Mine is packing on their site, so it is available... I assume it will be up for general sale soon.

Oh, I see- available to backers in March, but not released until April? That's no problem if so, I think I just misread it before.

Well my tax return came a lot sooner than expected- I just sent it last Wednesday!

Now I've got about three weeks to convince the wife to let me waste some of it.

Can we expect a comparable pledge level to the "sweet spot" from last time? I'd assume it will be the gold spot or the all units one.

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

Her response when I told her I wanted to set aside a couple hundred for a few figures was "Couldn't you get like three or four hundred figures from that Deadzone company for a fraction of that? For that price couldn't you get a whole shelf full of those VHS boxes?"

I guess she's learned a bit about my buying habits after all. The fact that she put Deadzone and Mantic together as the company that keeps clogging up our shelf, counter, and table top spaces with baggies and pieces of toy soldiers everywhere.

Gotta be careful with this one...

Dammit, her ignorance was one of your most potent weapons! If she's getting herself all educated, you're dam right you gotta be careful!

Biggest mistake I ever made, having my wife buy me models as a gift.

I tried my best to keep her in the dark about my hobby spending, since I do a lot of trading on ebay and use my paypal proceedings to cover the bulk of it, leading to not too much showing up on the bank statements.
Didn't matter in the end I guess.

Denlista's comment about quality over quantity- my son didn't help the matter much either. As I brought it up over breakfast, he chimed in "Oh yeah, those are the MOST expensive figures that Daddy has! They cost even more money because they can only be made in England out of special English plastic."

Of course since he was explaining this to his mother, he was explaining it in Japanese, which meant he was even MORE blunt about the whole thing. Arm gestures too, to further enhance all the piles of money I would be spending.

I got a kick out of the comment about resin being "English" plastic though.

Slightly off topic, but Danny Cruz is selling copies of his sketchbook and prints online at:
http://dannycruz4.deviantart.com/journal/update-439378124

It's a nice sketch book with a number of drawings from the Mierce and Kingdom Death, along with some comic related and personal pieces.

Unfortunately you need a deviantart account to send him a note as he doesn't list an email address for contact.

*edit* and also original art from the Mierce Kickstarters. No prices listed there :/

If we are talking about getting things past the other half then the biggest purchase should be a prize from a competition. Only works one every two years. Another good one is a very limited kick starter early bird deal. Bonus points if you forge a web page backing your claims!

I operate a don't ask don't tell policy, works for us.

KS1 we love you!

(although in terms of quality/value the current price is probably OK as a cheap git I'm so glad I got it earlier)

I miss KS1.

I'm at peace with paying a higher, sustainable, price for stuff if it keeps more being produced though.

This is a lot easier to say when you got it for less, of course (I feel the same way about the Blood Maw... which I have two of thanks to cincydooley).

Despite jumping onto that KS1 add-on deal, the KS2 prices kept me away... here's hoping KS3 has some sort of sweet spot / incentive that makes it easier for people to pledge, as right now the cost is prohibitive at full MSRP on a lot of these models.

Problem is though, where else can you find them at retail?

Outside of ordering directly from Mierce, very few online retailers seem to carry a large chunk of the line (especially in the US).

I know FRP and The War Store carry a fair amount, but they've got gaps in their stock, and they don't seem to have any of the more recent releases. What they do have isn't exactly impulse- shopping level prices either.

I saw my Shaaroc is going to be arriving this week. Excellent. I need some Cawrdraigs to go with him. Trying to find an Aradae Mawr for what I want to pay is not an easy task!

Separated.
And no, it wasn't the weird demons on display in the living room that did it.
