Am I parsing that picture correctly, that the humans have... rifles? Are those rifles (or muskets)?

The Searing ones are pretty neat, sort of a monster from Thor vibe. I second that having them carry a Greek fire launcher would be a cool alternative, or at least piped up to shoot it from their hands.

We're almost funded and to celebrate that fact here's another host to aim for, the Atalantes Iliotoxotes Support Host, set at £15,000!

Led by Sunspear Kyros, who has a sunspear ranged weapon, this starter host gives the Atalantes general something no other kindred can boast - a ranged unit, the Iliotoxotes, with rifles as opposed to bows, slings or thrown rocks! Joining them are the Pyrokolossi, ancient bronze hulks that capture the power of the sun to direct upon their enemies and burn them rather nastily. These guys are alternates of the original Mesokolossi of course!

Increase your pledge by £60 to purchase the Atalantes Iliotoxotes Support Host in metal, or £90 to purchase the Atalantes Iliotoxotes Support Host in resin. You can of course purchase the units within the host individually, at the prices listed on the graphic.

Guess maybe that's a barrier that could be addressed. First kickstarter was 2012/2013 right? It wouldn't be difficult to put a resin bundle on the website with or without discount for players to access outside of kickstarter. Or explain how factions play a bit more.

Best to get a bunch of the metals out first, those would make for bundles at a much less frightening price point for new players. Having the rulebook on the shelves in a few months as well is another good move in that direction.

I seem to remember that they wanted the rulebook done before they put out starter sets to retail. And metals will definitely help there.

At the moment, the rulebook is key and pretty much all effort is being directed towards finishing that. Once done, I expect we'll see the website changed, etc...

You mean the host bundle? Not sure. The first ones from metal age are going out now, and typically stuff ends up on the store a few months after its shipped to the backers. My understanding was the metal hosts were intended as starters to help get Darklands into more stores thanks to a lower price point and ease of manufacturing (metal casts easier than resin), so I'm thinking its likely they will be available as a whole. However that does require box art, different packages, etc.

Really looking forward to it.

Probably not going to go too crazy this KS, need to do some Mierce stock taking on my end and see what I'm sitting on.

It's over 18 months late as is, pessimism on release dates is fair enough.

It's over 18 months late as is, pessimism on release dates is fair enough.

It is certainly quite late, but I think we should maybe wait until he's missed the revised schedule that was put out (x) months ago before getting too worked up...

Erm, because it's friggin' Kickstarter? Nothing against Mierce in particular, I just don't put faith in anybody's delivery estimates anymore, short of "It's in the post."

Given the behavior I've seen from some Kickstarters (not this one!), you shouldn't even believe that at times!

So any info on how the factions play? I feel dumb asking this after having backed so many of their kickstarters, but the models were pretty. I'm still tempted here despite their attitude towards certain issues and their lack of communication (or tone) whenever I email them directly, but I'm wanting to know how the game plays.

Infantry and Monstrous Creatures - significant differences across factions or more or less the same? Faction wide special rules or a plethora of universal special rules attached to units? This Savage Hordes rulebook, is this supplementary rules or just army lists for the forthcoming tome?

The Savage Hordes rulebook from what I've read is kind of like an army list book with lots of background info as well.

No idea how anything plays I've only just got round to painting my Darklands minis.
