and some alternates for those pesky Brythonaid

Led by Hunter Carys, an alternate of the original Carys miniature, Helwr are scout versions of Saethwr, hooded and cloaked and with some added leafy camouflage. Joining them are the Cogwyfern, smaller versions of our fantastic Gwyfern, Typhaggahw, based on the Cocneidr unlocked at £20,000.

Increase your pledge by £60 to purchase the Brythoniaid Helwr Support Host in metal, or £90 to purchase the Brythoniaid Helwr Support Host in resin. You can of course purchase the units within the host individually, at the prices listed on the graphic.

Watch for more Support Hosts soon!

Mierceday and Monstrous Mounts is complete!

Ysians! Nithings!

It's a fine day for an update, so why don't we give you one?

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress images from Martin Lavat;
•a list of what miniatures are currently being sent in their various waves;
• an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;

...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Let's begin!

As this project is almost complete, there won't be many miniatures to show from here on in. Today we have a couple to show off though, from Martin Lavat!

It's been a long time since Gondard and his Nithing were completed, but we've managed to get Martin Lavat to finish those Nithings and Flesh-Piles off to bring you the unit!

Yrag is a little Nithing, a nasty little back-stabber with wandering hands and a bit of a gurn.

He's also not very happy with his current situation, it seems!

Another happy little Nithing, is Bil, who likes nothing more than to find bits of creatures on the battlefield to bring to his master.

These guys should be Wave 11; watch out for those Flesh-Piles next week...!

And now for a big one:

Monstrous Mounts Project is Complete!

Ravens... and Done!

It's update day here at Darklands: Monstrous Mounts, and it's a momentous one - because this project is now complete!

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress images from Allan Carrasco;
•a list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Let's begin!

As this project's miniatures are now complete, there won't be any work in progress updates from here; we may well do the odd update to show painted versions of the miniatures produced by Darklands: Monstrous Mounts, but we'll see.

Regardless: this week we have the final miniature to be completed for this project, by the stupendous Allan Carrasco!

As Allan Carrasco sculpted Birna, we thought it would be appropriate for him to convert her to ride the Fellhrafn (so wonderfully sculpted by Roberto Chaudon, of course). How right we were!

Birna on Fellhrafn will be a Wave 11 shipment...

Colossal New Kindreds update:

Men, Ogres, Trolls, Trees, Wolves and Crocs

We have another fantastic update for you here today, on Darklands: New Kindreds - because we've eleven works in progress to show you!

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Allan Carrasco, Benoît Cosse, Didier Fancagne, Yannick Fusier and Valentin Zak!
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Let us begin!

It's all alternates from Allan Carrasco, Yannick Fusier and Valentin Zak this week, with three completed full sculpts from Benoît Cosse and Valentin Zak!

Bloody Bagseg is an alternate version of the mighty Bagseg, the Oghurithne Umaer. Trolls beware!

Bloody Bagseg will be a Wave 11 shipment.

Valentin Zak has kindly provided us with the warrior versions of the Gairlom banner bearer and herald!

The alternate versions of Nectan and Fidaich, Nectaich and Fidain are looking very nice...

That's the Gairlom done - it's Wave 10 for these guys!

As well as Bloody Bagseg, Yannick Fusier has now completed work on the warrior versions of the Oghurithne banner bearer and herald!

The alternate warrior version of the Oghurithne banner bearer is Dungab!

We do love these Oghurithne. Such cool expressions!

Beglo is the alternate warrior version of the herald, which meant a completely new face. Yannick hasn't disappointed!

That completes the Oghurithne Unit - huzzah! These guys will be a Wave 11 shipment though.

It's Allan Carrasco Alternate Day again, starting with the superb Leaping Creoda, which is now complete.

Leaping Creoda will be a Wave 11 shipment!

It's been a while since we've sean anything from Didier Fancagne, but unbeknownst to us he's been working hard on the Beasts of Síleann Fen...

A warrior from the unit, Tanaíann is looking rather beefy... for a plant!

I wouldn't mess with him...!

Gearreag is certainly upset with someone (or something), possibly because of what's happened to his back... ouch.

We're hoping these guys will be a Wave 11 shipment, as Didier informs us he's starting work on Cru Creach shortly...

Next up is Spike Qaano, a wonderful alternate of the original Qaano, of course...

Spike Qaano should be a Wave 11 shipment!

We've also given Allan the awesome Srónox, Cqaa, which we're very happy about as he's going to be absolutely superb!

Heeeeerrree's Aggrakk, the mighty Krokokh of the Khthones, sculpted by Benoît Cosse... complete!

Now, we asked Benoît to beef up the arms and legs after seeing the above, so here's the completed version.

Aggrakk will be a Wave 11 shipment!

With the awesome Great Axe Thórrir, Allan Carrasco's alternate work is complete!

Great Axe Thórrir will be a Wave 11 shipment!

Metal age and some notes on orders

Æthelglyth!

We have a cracking update for you today for not only can we bring you news of more metal production, we can also bring you a superb new sculpt!

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Yannick Hennebo;
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•a list of what ships, when;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Here we go...

This week we have a totally new miniature to show you - well, a resculpt, really, but you get the gist - from the awesome Yannick Hennebo!

The lovely Æthelglyth is part of the Anglecynn Gesith Infantry Host, of course, and has been lovingly sculpted by the amazing Yannick Hennebo - who can do women like no other sculptor. Ahem.

Æthelglyth will be a Wave 11 shipment (in both materials), along with her host, we think.

Three Infantry Hosts have been shipped!

Three infantry hosts have been shipped so far - the Anglecynn Duguth, Brythoniaid Rhyfelwr and Ysian Ax-Drune Infantry Hosts - as well as the individual miniatures within them; and whilst some people have not received theirs that will be because they do not have enough shipment items to split their orders into separate shipments.

What's Next?

We're expecting the first sets of the Bow-Drune Infantry Host in a couple of weeks' time; we've had the samples and they're perfect. Once the production versions come in, they'll be sent out immediately in accordance to shipment items.

We've sent seven hosts off to the metal casters - the Brythoniaid Teulu, Byzantii Legionarius, Érainn Tuanagh, Fomoraic Gabrax, Fomoraic Warriors of Baalor, Jute Wihtgār and Norse Holumann Infantry Hosts. The samples for these should be with us very soon and then production will start.

Unfortunately the Albainn Gairlom Infantry Host is still waiting for the two Gairlom alternates, but once they're with us that host will be off too; but we'll have to move those back to Wave 11, whereupon lie the Anglecynn Gesith, Byzantii Demilegionarius and Atalantes Oplites infantry hosts currently reside.

Monstrous Infantry

We've had to make a decision on whether the monstrous infantry within each infantry host will be made in metal or will be resin only, a decision based upon cost more than anything else; if, for example, it costs more to make that monstrous infantry in metal than it does in resin, then it is not cost-effective to do so.

That's what's happened with the larger monstrous infantry from the various hosts, and why we haven't yet done the Brutes in metal (from the Ax-Drune set). Simply put, anything too large will now only be cast in resin, and sent with the metal host when it arrives.

The following monstrous infantry will be made in metal:
•Albainn Oghurithne
•Anglecynn Werwulf
•Anglecynn Wælwulf
•Byzantii Demilegionarius
•Fomoraic Tarvax
•Fomoraic Toracx
•Jute Drēaguth

The following monstrous infantry will only be made in resin:
•Atalantes Mesokolossos
•Brythoniaid Dyndraig
•Byzantii Skorpion Minor
• Érainn Fen Beast
•Norse Troll
•Ysian Brute

The upside, of course, is that giving you the monstrous infantry in resin has actually given you a better deal...!

Savage Hordes update! First one...

Gul-Gabrax and Oghurithne Hunters

Welcome to this, the first ever Friday update for the Darklands: Savage Hordes project!

This week we have:
•sculpt work in progress updates from Michael Anderson and Yannick Fusier;
•an updated list of sculptors and sculpts for this project;
•a list of what ships, when;
•...and anything else you can expect from us over the next few months.

Here we go...

This week we have some totally new miniatures to show you, for Gaalgar's Herd and the Hunters of Cait!

The lovely Michael Anderson has begun work on Gaalgar's Herd, and he's actually got armatures done for all of them; but he's only pushed one further than that...

One of the warriors of the unit, Culgaar looks like he's going to be utterly stupendous...

We think the unit will be on time to ship as part of Wave 12.

The fantastic Hunters of Cait, the Oghurithne Hunters, have their first member - courtesy of the splurgingly speedy Yannick Fusier...

Ungad is the Oghurithne Hunters' Champion, and looks superb. Especially as he's virtually done!

With Yannick going this fast, it shouldn't be too long before these guys are done - so we're hopeful of a Wave 12 shipment!

I would love to use him as an alternate "gobber chef" for Hordes (a little creature who basically chops up things and makes a stew out of them to heal other models). He looks just perfect!

The problem with Darklands is I never know where to start because the models - especially the monsters - are so damned nice! I feel like I should support the home team and pledge for some Ysians because it's rare that you can field some crazy Cornishmen on the tabletop but I don't like the style of the infantry..

I DO like the Fomoraic infantry, and the Brythoniad monsters and characters.. and then of course there are the Infernii..

Gah, decisions, decisions..

Is it me or has the wrong version of Æthelglyth been sculpted for Metal Age, it was supposed to be the alternative version below, well thats what I thought and paid for.

I'm not saying what's been done isn't amazing as I think it is but it's not what I wanted.

She was for Metal Age, I thought she was in the starter host but must have got confused when I saw the alternative version when it was revealed and mentally remembered the wrong version against the host.

@MM will she come back in another kickstarter as a goal along with the Jutgar?

We can but hope. There's still a few alternatives from other Kickstarters yet to feature:

Armoured Dungal
Shieldwall Eadric
Warrior Aldhelm
Warrior Daachuch
Ax-Jowan
Spike-Gondard
Ætulla (bareheaded?!)

And we've seen artwork but no sculpts for these:
The alternate version of Æthelglyth
Throwing Eirik

I daresay that Mierce have got a stack hidden away. Though, I doubt they want to pile on a load of new alts, New Kindreds style. 3-4 maybe...

Wow, I have no clue what any of that stuff on the big list is without accompanying pics. So, I'm just going to ask, what's the status on the Jutes? I only have two figures on order, a werewolf and a Jute wight, and I think the Jute is what's holding things up.

And, let's say I was interested in throwing down some cash for that Aethelglyth up above. Is my chance to do so long gone, or is there still opportunity to purchase her somehow?

Jutes should be going out as part of Wave 10 which is just starting to be shipped out.

Which Æthlgyth? The concept or the sculpt? The sculpt is still purchasable from the metal age kickstarter and will get sent out around April time.

£27,500 - Galon Garreg, Dewindraig of Gwaelod

The mighty Demimagus, Vulcanus, has now been unlocked - so let's celebrate by bringing you all another sorcerer! As voted for by you guys on our comments section, here's Galon Garreg, a Dewindraig of Gwaelod, set at £27,500...!

Wielding a huge dragon-staff infused with the power of the once-dragon it is topped by, Galon Garreg is a sorcerer of the Gwaelod realm, a Dewindraig (pronounced "DOW-in-drayg") that uses ancient magicks to drive the enemies of the dragons from those lands.

Galon Garreg will stand around 50-60mm to the eye on a 60mm base and will be an Uncommon (2), Wild Warchief of the Gwaelod realm or a Rare, Wild Warchief of the Gwynedd realm.

Increase your pledge by £27 (resin) to purchase Galon Garreg! Note that he will only be produced in resin.
