So is it common for the black legion to summon daemons? I realize that the word bearers are more into the whole daemon allie thing how ever I am just curious from a fluff stand point. I am currently starting to read the Hours Hersey books but I am only on book 2 so probably wont find this out for a long while.

It's fairly common, Black Legion have given themselves over to Chaos pretty fully.

Yes, the Black Legion partakes of all of Chaos' followers, including daemon allies...

The Black Legion whore themselves off to Daemons for the benefits that possession brings rather than use them as equals like the Word Bearers do.

At the end of the Heresy it got them into trouble as they would seek each God out looking for the rewards that it brings but this eventually led to the Legion decreasing in number until Abaddon took over

During this time they offered their worship to each of the Chaos gods in turn, willingly giving their bodies to possession by Daemons in emulation of their dead Primarch. However, with every change in loyalty, the Daemons of the rejected god retreated into the warp leaving their Space Marine hosts nothing more than discarded husks.

Reading further however

The Legion grew fewer and fewer until it was threatened with extinction. Desperate experimentation and research by the Legion's Sorcerer-Librarians finally uncovered a method of possession that did not destroy the mortal host.

They are like the Night Lords in a way that you will find they use Chaos as a weapon, their ultimate loyalty lies with the Warmaster.

Thats what I was thinking the case was cause all the fluff I found online to deal with Black Legion and Daemons tends to be more around possession. I wanted my army to use daemons more as equals than anything so I I think that I should have painted my army as word bearers however no point in turning back now. I will keep them as Black legion and just make some fluff to make it work out better. Thanks for the replies everyone.

I am pretty sure there would be Black Legion warbands that would use Daemons as allies like the Word Bearers.

Yep certainly. Nothing wrong with the concept at all. Even look upon possession as an honour.
