Just wondering and thinking about a lot since the release and slightly before the release about converting tyranids and chaos together. Mostly likely a thousand sons army seeing as they are under the god of change. I'd like opinions on if this is a good idea or not and could it work out.

Change is everywhere. Regardless of whether or not the warp shows us.

First things first, this thread is probably going to be moved to one of the Modeling sections do to the sort of content you are talking about. No biggie, that is just what the mods do.

Canonically speaking I personally don't know of any precedent for this, and given how Nids affect the Warp it probably doesn't work on paper. That being said RULE OF COOL, so do it anyway regardless of what anyone tells you.

Personally I could see one of two scenarios working.

First is Nurgle infected Nids that were segregated (kind of like in exile from the main fleet due to contagion) and form their of autonomous brood. Working in some Plague Bearers, Nurglings, and what not. All looking diseased and putrid as anything Nurgle would be expected to be. Perhaps some zombie-esque Nids as well.

Second would be Tzeentchian similar to your original suggestion. Like either a 1KSons Sorcerer manages to use the dead skull/brain of a Node creature (like a Warrior, or Zoanthrope) to control a small section of Nids. Or possibly a Daemon or Daemon Prince assuming a similar shape to a Tyrant and controlling them under that guise. That could be pretty cool.

One other idea could be having a Chaos army mutated into Nid like creatures. So like Stealer arms/legs, Gaunt talons, partially Fex'ed Defiler etc. That could be pretty boss. Especially if the fluff is that they use these known shapes to sow panic that a Nid fleet has arrived in the enemy lines.

Anyway that was my 2 creds on the subject.

Omadon's Realm

There was reference to some chaos warped splinter fleets in the previous tyranid codex and I seem to remember the map of 'known hive fleets' had one up near the eye of terror that was listed as warped or something.

Tigurius is a great telepath... I'd imagine Thousand Sons would be twice as good as he is at it. Nothing to say they can't have some sort of Monstrous Creature lurking around under their control.

I bet it would be temporary, though..

Sticking spikes and tentacles to every model on the table, is not covered by the RULE OF COOL.

Thanks for the input about this and the awesome rules of cool . Also here is my idea for the fluff not quiet sure if its amazing or fluffy enough but here goes. The thousand sons were sent on a secret mission during pre-heresy to go into the unknown which was on a planet the tyranids were devouring that very minute. They fought for months and so far away from the realm of the imperium they didn't know about the heresy and that their chapter was deemed damned and were sucked into a warp storm along with the tyranids. They also consider Ahriman a savior and a damn-er for they were changed like the rest of the chapter but, were fused with the wretched tyranids as well. Now seeking to reverse this and accepting help from only a select few to reverse this corruption.

Change is everywhere. Regardless of whether or not the warp shows us.

Are you aware that Tyranid Swarms are surrounded by "The Shadow of the Warp"?

There has been mention of corrupted hives before, the Hive Mind cuts ties with them and leaves them to die off or something like that.

Another viable possibility (If any) would be the Obliterator Virus.
http://wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Obliterator_Virus#.UHvcU8XMjow

Since the Obliterator Virus genetically strengthens it's host's body and increases their proficiency with ranged weapons I could see a small/lost splinter fleet accepting the virus rather than rejecting it in order to survive.

There's a couple of instances of this happening including an Iron Warriors controlled Hive Ship.

If you were to choose this route you might want to have plenty of weapon bitz and modelling putty on hand.

I am aware of the shadow of the warp didn't really think about it though. Although the obliterator virus sounds fun would it be possible for that virus to spread through the ranks of normal chaos marines as well like a plague?
