Subject: Flawless Host - Shining Blades or Emperor's Children?

A question about the Flawless Host. In the new 6ed Chaos Space Marines codex they are mentioned as a renegade chapter formerly known as the Shining Blades. Elsewhere online I am finding fluff about them being a breakaway faction of the Emperor's Children, and in Apocolypse their battleforce is listed as containing Emperor's Children terminators and marine squads. Is the new codex rewriting the Chapter history completely or am I missing something?

Why not both? Warbands aren't like chapters and can be very dynamic in organization.
The Flawless Host may have been initially formed from a breakaway group of Emperor's Children, but when the Shining Blades fell to chaos, they joined the Flawless Host warband in great number. Thus making the majority of the Host originally Shining Blades but still having a few original Emperor's Children members.

New codex sets them up as a Renegade Slaanesh Chapter formerly known as Shining Blades. GW retcons stuff all the time.
That being said, their forces containing Emperor's Children units means little. Any Chaos force can have that.

Both does seem possible, but yeah I was wondering if it was a Retcon because it seems to clearly say Shining Blades fallen after the Berillia Massacres in the M34, clearly much later than the Horus Heresy.
Any Chaos Force can have it, but in the Apocolypse book it lists the force as 3 Squads Emperors Children Terminators and 3 Squads Emperors Children Marines and literally no other infantry, so sounded pretty Emperor's Children and not just Slaanesh.
Retcon makes sense though and was what I was asking, thanks.

It is not technically a retcon. In the previous codex it merely said 'Emperor's Children gene-seed markers.' This can be attributed to the Shining Blades making a deal with Bile or any other apothecary with access to EC gene-seed to replenish their ranks after the Abyssal Crusade. Perhaps they subsumed an EC warband, or perhaps the Shining Blades joined a warband called the Flawless Host.
Its also entirely possible that there are only a few EC in their ranks, and the only bodies the Imperium got their hands on to study were fallen EC within the warband, making them think a larger portion of the warband used EC gene-seed than strictly true. OR that the Shining Blades were one of those rare chapters based off traitor gene-seed, as an experiment or a desperate attempt to get more chapters in the field. Its not a black-and-white subject. They were a colour scheme and 2 lines previously, now they're a paragraph or more, and theres a thousand explanations for anyone who wants to think.

Indeed
Chimeric Geneseed perhaps or another Chapter from the cursed founding etc etc
Edit: Ok so not a Cursed Founding as they were around before this and the Dark Founding for that matter.
