Okay so im just starting a ork army and im going to be running 5 mega armour nobz in a battle wagon, kinda as my hard hitting shock unit. So as you can probably tell they are just going to be gunning it into the enemy lines so im not to worried about fire power but i still want the battle wagon to pack a punch itself aswell.

So Im either going to give it a killkannon, which is str7 ap 3 large blast but is 70 points! and reduces the wagons cap from 20 to 12. Then you have the kannon which is str 8 ap 4.. or 3 haha but no blast! or str 4 ap 6 small blast haha both are crap in my opinion which is why I need a second opion as to what to take? thank you

Uh, none of the above? Put a deff rolla on it, armor plates and a big shoota for catching that weapon destroyed result. Done.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks actually do not think that purple makes them harder to see. The joke was made canon by Alex Stewart's Caphias Cain books.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.

In your squads, doing the chainsword tango

If you pop cannons onnit you can't assault out of it. Are your MANz for standing around shootin', or smackin' gits with their powerklaws? If you want to assault, keep 'er open topped.

Even if you didn't, the kannons are leh crap. The few times I've played against the kannon I've been playing it's choicest targets- marines. And each time I've belted it up in the first turn or two before it got a decent shot out, because spreading out to avoid blasts isn't hard, especially when you don't care about cover because of power armor. The bang you get is poor for the buck you spend.

I'd put a deffrolla onnit, cause it's dead killy especially against enemy vehicles, and armor plates and a big shoota or two. Basically, if you put NO guns on it, the first weapon destroyed result will be upgraded to a immobilized. Without armor plates, the damage chart becomes 1) can still move, 2) stunned, 3/4 immobolized, and buggered after that. Armor means you ignore the stun so you can keep moving (you ARE trying to transport MAN'z after all), and 1 big shoota halves your odds of being immobilized. I take two for the heck of it.

As Jidmah said- none of the above, deffrolla, armor plates and a bigshoota. Plain, simple, delivers boyz and ramz vehicles. Orky goodness

The weapon loadout has absolutely no impact on the open-topped status of the battlewagon.

Ork shooting is garbage, better to just run over people with the deffrolla.

If you have points a red paint job/grot riggers are also nice, but by no means required.

Yes, paying 10 points for a single Kannon shot at BS2 (or 1) is not worth it. Paying 10 points for 2 Big Shootas to throw 6 dice and average 2 hits, that is something very different. Plus the 18 Shootas and 2 Big Shootas inside will be throwing 42 dice of their own to average 14 hits.

I take Deffrolla, Armour Plates (to keep it rolling), and 4 Big Shootas. I stopped taking Grot Riggers because they will not prevent Immobilized like the Plates prevent Stunned.

I don't write the rules. My ego just lives and dies by them one model at a time.

The most competitive ork list right now consists of nothing but ork shooting. Please don't base your advice on ork fluff.

To go with the flow, I agree. Keep it as cheap as possible with the exception of deffrollas and shootas/rokkits.

It is possible to make a killcannon battlewagon list, but that's probably rather a different style than what you're looking for with MANZ.

The killkannon is a terrible weapon, you should never use it. 60 points for a S7 AP3 24" large blast is a complete waste of points. Take that from someone who has bought four extra turret sprues of ebay just to build killkannons.

If you want a shooty battlewagon, get four big shootaz or rokkits and add a kannon or lobba. Stay away from the killkannon.
