Ive scoured the Codex and it merely states they are MCs but characters. The BRb doesnt forbid characters from joining units... but this guy is also a MC.

So, question Ive got is; Can you attach a C'tan Shard to say, some Deathmarks?

You have to be an Independent Character to join a unit, not just a Character.

C'Tans lack the IC Special Rule.

OK cool he's a Character,

Is he AN Independant Character? The ones that have rules allowing them to join units consisting of more than 1 model?

Kind of a shame he's not an IC, really. Would almost make his points cost justifiable if you could stick him in a unit of ablative Wounds. Heck, if he was an IC I could justify Flayed Ones to myself and use them as a delivery system for the C'Tan. Just imagine...a C'Tan with 20 ablative Wounds....
