A LRBT is a Heavy vehicle, and is therefore always considered stationary for determining what weapons may fire (p83).

The Battle Cannon is an Ordnance weapon, and p71 says that a vehicle firing an Ordnance weapon can only fire Snapshots with other weapons that turn.

This rule is covered under "Moving and Shooting With Vehicles", but I assume it applies whether the vehicle moves or not?

Yup. Heavy doesn't do anything to actually help you avoid snap-shooting with your other guns when you fire Ordnance. Sadly.

Yeah, I was looking closely at this rule because I'm wondering about the value of sponson/hull weapon upgrades if they can only be fired at full effectiveness when you don't use the Battle Cannon.

loop hole is, fire your sponsons first, and hull weapon (you are stationary) you get to use full BS, then fire the cannon. Thus after the cannon shell is fired you are firing at snapshots.

No such loophole exists; all firing from one unit is simultaneous.

Yea, or not as the vehicle must fire all at the same time. There is no magical timing loophole on this.

However I had forgotten this in a game the other day, and feel quite cheated for not catching it.

Where does it say that? because the rolling for all weapons is not at the same time.

Page 13. And you absolutely can roll all the weapons at the same time.

I'd like to see that rule, can you Cite it for me?

Otherwise

"all of the models in the unit fire at the same time"
pg 13 top para in bold

kinda beats your arguement

The biggest reason for sponsons is ablative damage results to protect your main gun.

And 9 HB shots will still hit something with Snapfire.

Yep, the standard Leman Russ took a hit in the rules cinversion from Lumbering Behemoth to Heavy. But the variants, Exterminator nd Executioner, got upgraded to shooting everything at full effect even if they move.
