I REALLY like the new Cataphractii terminator armour from Forge World. So much so that I intend to start a pre-heresy army with it included. The only problem is, I have no idea which type of power armour would be best to use alongside it. I want the whole army to look like it is from the same era so which set of power armour would you guys recommend?

“Because we couldn’t be trusted. The Emperor needed a weapon that would never obey its own desires before those of the Imperium. He needed a weapon that would never bite the hand that feeds. The World Eaters were not that weapon. We’ve all drawn blades purely for the sake of shedding blood, and we’ve all felt the exultation of winning a war that never even needed to happen. We are not the tame, reliable pets that the Emperor wanted. The Wolves obey, when we would not. The Wolves can be trusted, when we never could. They have a discipline we lack, because their passions are not aflame with the Butcher’s Nails buzzing in the back of their skulls.
The Wolves will always come to heel when called. In that regard, it is a mystery why they name themselves wolves. They are tame, collared by the Emperor, obeying his every whim. But a wolf doesn’t behave that way. Only a dog does.
That is why we are the Eaters of Worlds, and the War Hounds no longer."

Any mix of the Mark I, II, and III armors would look pretty slick.

Mark III is my personal favorite.

Anything from Mk 2 to Mk 4 for pre-heresy and Mk 5 was utilized during the Heresy.

Mk III is pretty sweet but really any armour mark 1 to 4 is fine, some astartes would be issued new armour as they are elevated, some would have the same armour they've had for a century.

Are the dead/dying marines on Angron's base wearing mkV armour? I'm leaning towards doing the world eaters as my pre-heresy army with Angron leading it.

I think you mean mark II - IV. Mark I not only isn't available, it wasn't used in the crusades, since it was proto-astartes armour.

Mark IV seems to be Forgeworlds default Heresy era armour (and my personal favorite), but a mix of II, III and IV would be a better representation. Mix in mark V if you are doing actual heresy era, and no pre heresy.

I've been having a look at the different armour styles available from Forge World and I prefer mkIV for the tactical marines but I prefer the jump packs of the mkII and mkV assault marines over the mkIV assault marines. I suppose I could pick and mix, some marines might become attached to their old armour

You are probably right.

But my motto is "If it isn't Mark III, it's dead to me!"

It would probably look best with 2-3, they both have the ornate thing going for them
