I figured I'd try to build a few Cadians from bits. I've never built a Cadian Shock Trooper before, which parts are needed? So far I have:

Heads
Torsos
Canteen/knife
Bases

I know that I also need:

Legs
Arms/Guns

Other than the legs and arms/guns, is there any other part to the basic Cadian model? I saw grenades/ammo pouches, but I'm not sure if those are bits for the Cadians.

You really only need the heads/torso/legs/arms. The arms come with the guns.

The other bits are accessories.

What do you mean? Just buy the Cadian box and you're good to go. From bits, you only need the WYSIWYG part: the lasgun, torso, arms, legs, and head. and grenades. All the other stuff is accessory items.

Seeing a squad of veterens swoop in in a Vendetta, secure the area, deliver that math assignment, and extract within 2 minutes would be freaking sweet.

Someone gave me 15 Cadian heads when I told them I wanted to start an IG army. So, I decided to hit up ebay and see if I could find the rest of the bits to build them with. I'll pick up a Cadian battleforce in November when I get paid next, but for the moment I thought I could dabble a bit.

Fantastic, thanks.

May as well get some cool 3rd party bits for your legs/arms if your group doesn't mind. Check out Max Mini, Victoria Lamb, and Kromlech for some awesome IG bits.

Slightly cheesy, yet creative mode is go!

The trick is to make bases that only really need a head and a lasgun to work.

For example you could make a base with a large bush on it, with a head peaking out the top (with face paint) and the lasgun sticking out the side. Or you could make a fox hole effect with the same set up.

An ork slugga can be made with a stack of tires and two arms sticking out (as he's using them to be all sneaky like). I'm sure with enough imagination you can do something with those heads a minimal additional parts.

Haha, or just have a bush mounted on a base and claim your guy is completely hidden inside. :p

Well, you need at least SOME IG piece there, otherwise...it's just a terrain feature or a objective marker, lol.

You could always saw the head in half, get a lasgun, apply a really dark green color to the base and use water effects on it. Put the half head on it, lasgun sticking out of the base at an angle, then bam! You have a guardsmen creeping through a swamp.

Umm, it's probably going to cost you more to bitz-order the rest of the cadians than it is to just buy new ones. Unless you were going for some form of expensive kit-bashing (as in, using part cadian, part catachan/3rd party), then I wouldn't bother.

I'd either try and trade them for some other bitz (I KNOW there are going to be some CSM or DE players interested in some guard heads), or just use them in some form of gruesome terrain.
