Ok so i was looking at C'Tan Shard powers and Grand illusion caught my eye as a possible cheat way to get Flyers onto your board first turn.

as we should all know first you deploy putting your flyers into reserve as they must accourding to the rules. and then Scout moves are made.
So here is when Grand illusion takes place which states "after all forces have been deployed and all scout moves have been made, roll a d3. You immediately redeploy this many friendly Units, subject to normal deployment rules for the mission. This power can be used to move units into, or out of reserve."

so with this i ask the people of Dakka.... can Necrons get flyers out first turn using a C'Tan?
can't wait to see what you guys think!!!

The underlined should answer the question.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

Gonna have to say to this one.
As flyers must start the game in reserve.

Grand Illusion happens before the game begins

However if the necron SC that messes around with reserves is in play, and your opponent plays deathwing / drop pods / daemons you can bring in flyers turn 1

Theres a necron character that lets you bring yours in if your opponents comes in essentially.

As deathwing/drop pods/daemons all come down turn 1, you get some stuff too

He's referring to Nemesor Zahndrekh's Phased Reinforcements rule (p61)

Death Marks also have this ability - Ethereal Interception (p36)

Ok so i noticed people saying a lot about the "subject to normal deployment rules for the mission." bit but there arent any rules for any mission stating that flyers have to stay in reserve before the game has begun, so my point is the subject to normal deployment rules has nothing to do with flyers being in reserve as it pretains more so to your deployment zone in which you can place models for example:dawn of war deployment is table lengths which basically give s you 12' from board edge. subject to normal deployment means you cannot place models outside of this area so flyers havning been in reserve already could be placed imo while using this ability as they have been in reserve but are no longer.

Ok than how bout this approach.

Are you normally allowed to deploy a flyer?

only a FMC in gliding mode.

Flying vehicles must start the game in reserve. (that would be normal)
