Hi all, new to the forums and the game. A friend and I picked up the Khador and Cygnar battlegroups the other day and played a round. We're having a duzy of a time with the spell casting aspect of the game. As we read the rules, it seems to state that for an offensive spell to be successful, you add 2d6 plus leftover Focus remaining on the warcaster, is this correct? If it is it just kind of makes spells, atleast offensive ones, kind of useless as my friend and I are far more worried about putting focus points on the jacks for maximum damage, and with no leftover focus to add to the spell casting attempt it's usually a guaranteed fail. Not to mention the fact that the average spell requires 3 or 4 focus to cast anyway, so even if we gave none of our focus away at the beginning of the turn the spell would only get an addition 2 points to the casting roll.
Also, for an offensive spell to be successfully cast the warcaster's roll has to meet or beat the intended targets def correct?
And one final question in the order of spells. For Stryker's earthquake spell, to successfully cast it do you have to beat the intended targets defence for it to land, and then roll against every model under the template? We're just a bit confused by this as most posts we've read don't go into explicit detail of the spell, and when they do most people just tend to discuss how missing the target due to being out of range can still have the spell deviate onto some enemy models.
Clarification on these questions would be really appreciated.
