I'm going to assemble a 5 man Sternguard squad and for my setup I need two combi-plasmas and two combi-meltas. I was wondering what Weapons come in the fine cast stern guard box so I know how many upgrade sprues I should order.

Dude have you not seen the pictures on the site, those things are all malformed:

I'd advise you try a bits site instead of buying that set, i'd probably be cheaper to buy the combi weapons from the plastic captain set.

The Sternguard box comes with a Sergeant that has a PF and Bolter, 2 guys with bolters, and 2 guys with combi weapons. The set comes with one combi-melta and one combi-plasma IIRC.

The combi-weapon guys have the same sculpt, the other 3 models are different.

That's actually perfect. I have 1 combi plasma from the commander box and can easily convert a meltagun into a combi melta. Have you had any bad experiences with Stern guard fine cast miscasts?

Sorry, all mine are metal or plastic that I've kitbashed.

If the finecast sternguard are miscast, you can just get replacements, so I wouldn't sweat it.

The Sternguard box contains a single model with option to switch between plasma and melta. The gun is complete but it's only compatible with the one model without modification, as it has both hands on the gun piece.

The Sternguard weapons image is also misleading, actual ones out in the world are pretty normal. However, combis other than the melta are still ugly. The plastic combi-melta is so in-demand that anyone that still has it in stock is going to charge you enough that the weapon upgrade pack becomes attractive again. The cheapest and easiest option is to buy plastic combi-plasmas and buy meltaguns to convert those.

You can actually get 2 combi-meltas if you have a Multi-melta and 2 regular bolters. You cut the barrel of the MM off and into to pieces. Then attach that under the barrel of the bolter.

I had not thought about this. I'll probably end up using this idea. Thanks!

CHS sells a combi kit.
But it only comes with a single bolter part.
They do sell them seperately, though.

I got my combis from the commander box.
The mono-pose Sternguard box didn't appeal, and I couldn't find out what options it came with.

What I did with mine was find people not using the handguns that come in the death guard box and got them cheap to convert. It has a hand flamer hand melta and the plasma pistol and there are plenty of tutorials to make them.
