Hey, I'm wanting to return one of GW's new basing kits that I returned yesterday. Anyone know the return policy on this? I don't think the think had any plastic wrap packaging, so the components were loose in the box. Its all there though, and nothing's wrong with the kit itself, just want to know how I would go about getting my cash back.

You could always pop by a GW store with receipt or if purchased on-line, a copy of your invoice.

This is your best bet. A lot of times it's at the discrepancy of the store manager.

Oh I have the reciept, and its the same GW store that I bought the item from yesterday. Its that the item didn't come in a sealed package that I'm wondering about kind of. Do GW accept items that aren't in plastic packaging for returns? I've got a bad repoir with the staff at my GW (on account of them belittling anyone non GW gamer publically), thus I'm kind of wanting to have a president in case one of the staff starts disagreeing with me when I try and get my money back.
Reason for returning? I bought it on a whim, but then I checked the reciept and found it cost the same as a box of figures (I thought it was £8, not £18, and was questioning its value even at the prior...). Probably not the best reason, but I would still think I would be allowed to return the item for credit.

If it was sold non-packaged then they shouldn't have an issue, but precedent or no, they're under no obligation to take it back from you if there's nothing wrong with it. Be polite, be understanding, and be ready to take an exchange over cash and you ought to be fine.

They are usually alright about returns, it's about the only thing in their favour
If they won't give you a refund you should at least be able to get store credit for something else.
And yes, the basing kits are ferociously expensive!

^^ All I want is an exchange really. I make my own bases, I just bought the thing because I was on a giddy spending spree. The casing for the kit is a bit loose though. The thing was air tight when I bought it. So will that cause an issue?

If it's an exchange you want, no problems there then. That's something all GW stores offer as a standard, even the stingy Dutch stores!

XD So the casing not being air tight wont be an issue? I mean it might be difficult to put it back on the shelf as the lid would fall off.

I think in this case they'll set it aside for internal use, that's what they do around here with exchanged products.

Well I'm thinking that a lot of parents buy their kids the wrong kids as presents, so they exchange them for the right ones. I've asked some ex staffers I know, but they say its just to the staff on the till at the time (and like I mentioned, it could be the decent ones, or it could be the tools). =/

AFAIK, according with EU law, you have a 7 day period, counting from the moment of purchase, that you can return anything that you bought and ask for your money back, no questions asked, no reason needed other than "I changed my mind".
Just take the product back and the original receipt and they will have to give you your money back.

No, I'm afraid this isn't true. There are laws like this in place for online selling, but a shop has no obligation to accept a return if there's nothing wrong with the product.

You are right, the EU Law only covers distance selling but says absolutely nothing about store bought items! Weird!

Yep. Most retail stores are decent enough though, and I've never had a problem returning things for exchange at least as GW. I don't think you'll have any issues here so long as you take it back promptly.
Unless, of course, the manager is a jerk.

GW will take anything back for exchange even without a reciept as long as it's still sealed / in saleable condition.
The basing kits are randomly sometimes sealed and sometimes not which is odd.
But seeing as you bought it yesterday and it wasn't sealed, then it should be no issue at all.
GW have a great returns policy.

GW plc stores have the same policy on returns as all other retail outlets in Britain.
They can exchange non faulty for items of a similar retail value or offer store credit.(As most reputable retail stores do this, GW stores are no different.)
If you have purchased an iten that is faulty ,they HAVE to refund your money, or replace the faulty item.
And as the items GW plc sell only cost them 24% of the retail price. It is MUCH cheaper for them to GIVE you a replacent , that give you your money back.
Even posting you a replacment free of charge is much cheaper than refunding your purchase price...
So GW plc 'excellent customer service.' Is the same customer service you get from any reputable high street store. And giving you a free replacement is the cheapest option they have under UK law.(The Consumer Act.)

Seriously!? They have a 76% markup! Damn... that's insanely high.
Thing is, he's not returning a faulty item, so he's not protected by this. As above though, doubt it'll be an issue. And not all retail outlets have the same returns policy, only when it comes to legal issues like faulty goods. Discretionary returns varies quite a lot from retailer to retailer.

Last year, GW would issue refunds if asked even if you didn't have a receipt. It seems that some people were milking the system by buying online at steep discount and then returning the item at a GW store, making a couple bucks profit on each box. GW has since discontinued this and changed their policy to requiring a receipt from a GW store and then only issuing store credit in most cases (manager's discression).
