Because I'm not.
It's not that I'm a CoH 1 grognard and fear change, or anything. I'm a huge fan of the game and my friends and I have played hours and hours of it. The thing is, we've been playing the Eastern Front mod for some years now and looking at CoH 2, well, it just doesn't seem to add anything that the mod doesn't, except prettier graphics. So, much as I'd like to be eagerly anticipating it, I'm just not.
What about you, Dakka? Are you impatient for it to release? And can you tell me if I'm missing anything that should make me excited too?

I was excited for it but...
It's ridiculously expensive for a pc game.
And, chances are, THQ will go bankrupt by the time the second patch is out so there's no real point looking forward to the multiplayer unless Relic themselves make their own plans.
Also, it's ridiculously expensive for a pc game. (Worth mentioning again)

59.99 is fairly normal for a major release, even in PC games.

That's because there is no official price announcement. The retailers are just throwing numbers out.

The Steam pre-order is 59.99 USD. That one I believe is entirely accurate, as that appears to be their focus. That is also the one they link to on their site.

Maybe that's what we know now. But its standard practice for retailers to start taking preorders almost as soon as the game is announced, which can be years ahead of time before any prices are shown by the actual developer/publisher.
I assume Compel saw such a throw out that has since been amended.

CoH wasn't accurate at all and going from what I have seen of the sequel it won't be any better. I fully expect 'Hollywood history'.
As to the game well it is expensive, more so than PC games generally aside from allegedly AAA titles like the various CoDs and it looks very much like the multiplayer will have some kind of unlock system. I will still get it but I think I will wait until it goes on sale.
CoH was a very good game but this just looks like more of the same.

Who the hell said anything about CoH being accurate? I said in my free time I love reading books about the Eastern Front
And where are people coming up that this game is more expensive than usual, have you NOT been paying attention to the prices of games the last few years? I do not physically remember what the last AAA title was released that was NOT $60 at launch.
fething CoH was released at $60.

1. You said learning, naturally I assumed that you would require something accurate.
2. The standard RRP for a big budget PC game is £29.99 and has been for years; it is only games that have been co-developed for consoles that tend to have a higher RRP. Have a look at the RRPs on Steam if you don't believe me.
Something is definately putting people off buying it. It has even fallen of Steams top 100 chart and it hasn't even managed to fulfil its tier1 pre-order bonus despite the fact that it has been available for weeks.

You've been getting games cheaper than here in America, if that is the case. Standard recommended retail price for a AAA game here is 60 USD (~37 GBP), and has been for years-- PC game or not. This is not a recent thing. Major titles which are not AAA titles have been released for 50 USD (31 GBP). While other games are released at different rates depending on demand.

My friends and I play co- op vs. AI (which is much, much better in EF) so I'm not as concerned about the balance issues as I would be if I were playing PvP. It's a lot more balanced than it's early releases too; I remember Naval Troops were laughably OP back in the day, now they perform much more reasonably, for example.

We have indeed been getting them cheaper, then. £29.99 is about normal for Steam prices, goes even lower if you buy from Amazon or some such.

1) Ha, ya those dots did not need to be connected at all. Learning about the Eastern front and playing something set in the Eastern Front are two different things.
2) As for this one I will have no idea how you are buying your games. I physically do not remember the last big budget game taht was NOT $60 at release. As I said, Company of Heroes 1 was 60 at release which is why I didnt buy it until like a year ago (waiting for the price to go down, I buy gets when the hit 30 at the most, I prefer to wait till 20, picked up CoH and expansion for $14
What I DO notice is games released for Consoles do not seem to get that first price drop so after a while PC is $50 to a consoles $60 but thats it, at release they are always both $60.
As I said, I physically do not remember the last big budget (full) game to come out that was NOT 60 on release
WAIT, are you talking in Pounds? Cause im talking in USD. $60 is nearly equal to 30 pounds I believe (the exchance is like 1.78ish isnt it? Dont look it up, not important)
I want to say that the reason pre-orders are slow is because the pre-order bonuses just arnt very good IMHO.

I suspect that its price is what is keeping people away until it goes on sale. Its certainly what has convinced me to wait.
As I said I buy most of my games on Steam, and most of them are under £30. The most recent game I bought was XCOM for £29.99, I think the last game that I bought for over £30 was Skyrim. CoH 2 costs £39.99.

Oh god thats why, Ive been talking about USD the entire time. We all need to pay more attention to flags lol.
Ya the price is keeping me away but I also refused to buy any of the CoD/Halos/Battlefields/Resident Evils/Fears/Eldar Scrolls/CoH/Mass Effects*/Batmans/GoW etc... while they were $60. I dont wamt to spend that type of money so I always wait a year for the price to go down to acceptable levels before I buy it. (40 if I REALLY want the game, 30 if im excited, 20 if I simply like it)
*Mass Effect 3 was the only game Ive bought that I got at $60 dollars, the rest I was able to wait patiently for

Yeah, we've been talking pounds. And even the £39.99 price tag is lower than when I first saw it on amazon at £49.99.
Even the big release pc games have only ever been £34.99 at launch for the standard/limited version. - It's the collectors editions that end up being particularly higher.
The only exceptions of this that I've noticed is Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3, which have always been ridiculously high in price.
A separate issue is all the financial trouble that THQ are in right now. That's got me a bit wary too.
