The first of my new 'print and play designs has gone online. For gamers getting into the hobby or just wanting some cheap, simple but already textured terrain he's my 40k Administratum

wow, really nice stuff. May I recommend a download link which has all of them? I got em all!

The USS Orinoco was a Federation Danube-class runabout that was in service with Starfleet in the late 24th century, attached to Deep Space 9. It was outfitted with a sensor pod.

I'll think about it, Orinoco although all my STCs are here in one place already: http://40kaddict.blogspot.co.uk/2011/02/terrain-is-everything-standard-template.html

Although I still need to add the print and play terrain too.

Another blast from the past while I finish up the set of print and play terrain - Warhammer hedges, walls and fences as described in White Dwarf magazine, thems were the days and you could get a bag of crisps for 5p!

Sorry to be a pain but any chance you could add measurements to your drawings? Would be easier I think..

How do you mean? Just a strip with some cms on or actual measurements for each bit, length height etc. Is it just so you can get the right scale? I do them as .pdfs and at A4 [mostly] so if you just print at 100% they should be bob on, unlike a .jpg wher eif you print them some printer won't interpret the 300dpi correctly and you'll end up with a massive picture. It's certainly something I will look into if I can see the reason why it would be of benefit, currently it's tough enough getting them out without them but if you've got a good enough case I'll do it.

It's a building trade habit I think. I'm used to my drawings having measurements on lol. If it's on A4 though probably best to mention it on the drawings. The GW stuff is about A4 size I think.

Dimensions is what he wants. Usually anything that is printed down and considered a blue-print shows how long edges are. Even if its to scale and you can just match the pieces up, usually people just measure it.

Tracing or eyeballing it can create a slightly off-shapen piece. Tracing usually makes a piece SLIGHTLY larger than the actual thing.

And the next FREE Print and Play building template is available, it's the same building but 3 storeys instead of 2. I'm also finishing off the wide building which should be available soon [sorry done before it was suggested to put page size on, it's A4]

And the next FREE Print and Play building template is available, it's the same style 2 storey building but wider. This way you can make a larger square building, once again they're designed to fit on A4 paper. The easy way to make them is print them out onto an A4 Sticky label, attach to foamboard, cut out and glue together. You can choose whether to keep or remove the windows or indeed hack at it to make your own ruins instead of [shock horror] an actual free standing undamaged building in the 40k universe!

Point your cogitators here: http://40kaddict.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/terrain-is-everything-hail-omnissiah.html

Hope this is of use, please feel free to share the links with your firends, loved ones or even your arch-nemesis. Please don't offer it to Tyranid players, we will cry, I'm not going to blame the Codex but yes it's the Codex's fault. In fact I firmly believe the fact half Britain is being thrashed by a 'superstorm' is thanks to the Tyranid Codex!

Been a big fan of your STC stuff for a while, but never new about the print and play stuff until now.

Great stuff.

I'm replying to subcribe to this thread, so I can find it later.

That's great !

Any chance you can finish the Plasma Generator plans ?

I'd love to build a few, but the plans leave me scratching my head.

That plasma generator looks great! In general, I'd love to see people do more DawnOfWar-style buildings! I saw someone build a great command bunker once, but that was waaay back...

I'm not sure what to do on this one, it is quite weird but I don't quite know how to illustrate it so it's easier and I'm an Information Designer! That's kind of why I chickened out and just let the Free Radical Collective release it. I'll have a look, maybe some component labels might make it a little clearer, meanwhile...

Finally got round to completing the last of the black building templates, the great thing about this one is you can combine it with the first building to get a wide square building or a narrow rectangular one [good lord I actually forgot the word 'rectangle' then, it took me two minutes to dig it out of my brain, how does something like that happen? Maybe my Dad's Alzheimers legacy is kicking in! still moving on...]

Labeling the Plasma Reactor parts may be all it needs. It certainly wouldn't hurt.

Took a crack at your Plasma Generator Plans. They work as is, it just took me cut and pasting them around to figure out what part went where.

At some point I just started adding other stuff, but it should illustrate that the plans are good.

I'm going to build a second one, with clear rods, and some modifications to make it easier to assemble. After I'll share the modification I did with you.

That's the fella, I love the additions. Mine is down to about two thirds of it's plasma juice, somehow the hand wash I put in the pen cases has slowly evaporated. I love it when people take the design and make it their own, adding and remixing the template.

And then if you make a mand made hill it can pass as Void Shield Generator, it gives you a lot of options

I may build that man made hill. The added height it will give the plasma gen will block line of sight.

Did you use zip ties to give the edge of the stair texture ?

I did indeed, thought it'd be handy and quick way to cover up the exposed foam ends, so they didn't melt when sprayed. Actually zip ties aren't always straight so it's a bit of a pain to cut out the foam to rebate the ties and get the to stay true when the ties are usually warped. Still, it doe make a nice effect, more detail is always nice. Although you can do it with or without as many sets of stair cases as you wish, to make it as easy or hard to make as you want. Also, the coupling socket also fits with the towers I've made and the Honoured Imperium statue sits on top of it neatly too. It's a handy piece of terrain, I use that one a lot in my games

Been a while but another new FREE Print & Play building skin is available to print out and stick to foamboard. Rest assured the two other sizes will follow and I may then look at some extra sizes for more variety.

I have soo many hobby projects going on at once I keep procrastinating printing up a few of these. The kids are back in school in two weeks, so that may change soon.

It's that time again, a FREE building template to print out and attach to foamboard for some simple LoS blocking terrain. It's basically a box that's already coloured with a different building template. Nothing fancy, just enough to get you going if you're starting out in the hobby or on a budget.
