How would most of you folks look at this? VS isn't really a shooting or cc attack in any pure sense. Either you have to say it's a CC attack that counts as firing a weapon for shooting, or that it counts as either a shooting attack or a special attack that does grant cover saves since it doesn't have the ignores cover rules.

You get cover saves unless something states you DONT get a cover save

Jink is just a cover save, so you get it against VS. See: Spirit leech, Mawlocs TftD, et al

As nos says.

You get to use cover saves against any form of damage / wound, with two exceptions.

1) The wound originated from a CC attack.

2) The attack has a special rule that states it ignores cover.

This is right, for VS it seems you can get cover from area terrain, KFF, stuff of the sort. LoS blocking terrain will not work as there is no firing point.

This is correct. While I do agree with you nos, I would just like to point out that this is one more example of the ruleset being less permissive-based in 6th.

Not at all "less permissive-based in 6th".

You have permission to take a cover save against a wound. so it permits you to take it, unless something specifically disallows it, like CC attacks.

How so? Given BOTH those rulings were 5th edition? In addition as DR points out - you have permission to take cover saves against wounds, and VS does not remove this permission...

Related question then:

basilisk shell in barrage mode hits a jetbike in the open. Jink save or not?

Obviously he gets Jink save, if he moved. Barrage doesn't deny cover saves at all.
Another example: I have group of Marines on my side of Aegis Defence Line. Basilisik shell in barrage mode scatters so that the center hole is on other side of ADL. My marines get cover saves against the wounds.

Barrage does not ignore cover, just determines cover from the centre of the blast. A jinking jetbike always has a cover save, no matter which direction the shot comes from, so it of course has a cover save
