If a Blight Drone is taken as part of a Daemons of Chaos army, does it arrive via daemonic assault?

Does the FW entry say it can be taken as something like a FA slot in Codex: Chaos Daemons?

Indeed it does. It can be taken as a FA choice for Codexaemons or Codex:Chaos Space Marines

Than yes it should arrive by Daemonic Assault.

"no model in this army is ever placed on the battlefield during deployment" pg 27 C: CD

Blight Drone is also a flyer, and even with daemonic assault cannot arrive on the table turn 1. so it will enter play like a Daemon FMC, Deepstrike as a flyer on turn 2+

Awesome. My reasoning is to use Blight drones with the Typhus/ Tally list, but attempt to get a flyer on the table turn 1 with daemonic assault. Just use the drone as an ally and put it in the first wave with Epidemius.

Thanks

nowhere do I see that. pg 80 "Flyers must begin the game as reserves"

Remember everything subject to Daemonic assault is in reserves.

There's no reason they can't plop down turn 1

Daemonic assault doesnt automatically make everything reserves, you roll for the half you choose and that one comes in turn 1, the rest is reserved.
what your saying is that daemonic assault allows me to put FMC's and Flyers on the table turn 1? even tho the BRB specifcally says neither can start on the table?

Do they start on the table?
No they do not.

In fact Daemonic assault states the army is placed in reserve.

Before you go all willy nilly again read Daemonic assault on pg 27 C:CD

Codex Trumps MRB, BRB? (Main Rule Book, Big Rule Book))

IF FW is being used, then the FW rulebook, Daemon Codex, CSM Codex takes precedent over MRB.

not really a concern as there is no conflict.

So, then yes; The Blight Drone would Start on the table turn 1. If the half of the Demon army units chosen to start turn one contained a Blight Drone.

Sorta, they don't start on the table turn 1.

They have to Deepstrike from reserve turn 1.

Edit;

So, pg27 Demonic assault; there is no other choice here, the "entire" rule must be followed.

If the half of the Demon army units chosen to demonic assault, either by the player or the players God, contains a Blight Drone, then the Blight Drone would be deployed via Deep Strike turn 1.

The other half of the units, if they also contained a Blight Drone, the Blight Drone would also Deep Strike when it arrived from reserve.

Yes, correct. It is one of the few ways to get a flyer on the table turn 1

Odd that some of you consider that the daemon special rule the Blight Drone to be using is the Codex Daemons one. My group has been using it as the BRB one, which would not allow them to have Daemonic Assault, but instead a 5++. Reason being that it makes no difference for the Daemons of Chaos or Chaos Marine Daemon Rules. In Aeronautica both the Hell Talon and Blight Drone use the same rule, with no differences marked.

Now I could maybe give it too you that GWs intent, from their recent daemons FAQ, is that everything used in the daemon codex uses the codex daemon and parts of the BRB daemon (ie the 5++ and fear), but that isn't clearly stated anywhere and to me seems odd justifying a FW rule with a GW FAQ.

Not really odd.

The IA states it can be taken as a Codex: Chaos Daemons FA choice. (Don't have the IA book, just what I was told)

The Codex Daemon Rule effects every model in this army

If it's a "codex" choice which it would become the codex Daemon rule would/will apply

The daemon rule in Codex Daemons says it applies to every model in the army, giving four special rules Fearless, Invulnerable, Daemonic Assault and Daemonic Rivalry. So I guess your right it gets both... I wonder if it was this simple what was the Flamer/Screamer debate about before the FAQ? Oh well guess that is a kinda cool thing they can do.

I have no idea, however when the dust settled flamers had an invul save.

I indeed do have IA Aeronautica. Pg. 74, 1-3 Blight Drones are a FA choice for Codex: Chaos Daemons army, a Servants of Decay Army, or a Codex: Chaos Space Marines army ( that consists of at least squad of Plague Marines).

There is no restriction to FMC in Codex: Chaos Daemons being part of wave 1, correct? So this is looking completely legal..

Well Last I checked It's a vehicle and in such has to follow those rules not the rules for FMC

Yea seems legit though

Sorry... I was responding to an earlier post that stated all Daemon FMC had to come in on turn 2. My bad for the muddled post.

Thanks again for everyones help
