Hello, I am wondering what people think about the tervigon as an HQ? I know he become a troop if you get gaunts, however, it just seem like a decent choise as oposed to the tyrant (that costs a lott) or the warrior prime that is OK and cheap but not a can of whoppy.

If your working smaller point armies its not a bad choice. A psychic hub that has amazing pyschic powers, or potentially 3 draws off the random abilities. IMO however the real power of the tervigon comes when he is taken as a troop choice. As most games not are objective based, a troop MC that creates other scoring units can hold an objective all day long. plus you still get psychic powers to boot.

Never underestimate the Genestealers ability to sweeping advance EVERYTHING!

I agree with the above poster. However, a flying hive tyrant with 2 twin linked devourers is your best bet. He won't give you hq benefits, but you can pick your warlord trait, and mess with almost anything

I think taking them as HQs and Troops is a good plan.

5 Tervigons spawning will give you lots of units quickly.

Plus the Tervigon is cheap enough to spam without hurting the overall list. Flooding the board with bodies can be a real issue for some armies.

Cato Sicarius, after force feeding Captain Ventris a copy of the Codex Astartes for having the audacity to play Deathwatch, chokes to death on his own D-baggery after finding Calgar assembling his new Eldar army.

Yes, its good. I feel you really need a flyrant though, otherwise what do you have to take down flyers?

I find that Hive Tyrants tend to die quick when they're used as the general of an army. Therefor I use a Tervigon as my general, to distract some fire from the Hive Tyrant.

While it is nice that the tervigon is a scoring unit I often use the tervigon as a lategame meat shield and a smaler unit of gaunts as the scoring unit (if the objective is withing synapse range.) While bad at fighting 160/200 points for something that spawns 100 point worth of other units is very cheap. Also with the psukick powers it ads a lott of synergi.

I happen to like Tervigon heavy lists. Thanks to duel FOC you can run 8 Tervigon at 2000 points incliding 3 psychic powers each and upgrades. with an overwhelming number of gaunts being produced and a constant flow of psychic powers off of the Tervigons, It can be a serious threat. to infantry vehicles.

Better as Troops IMO. This means they can capture Objectives. How many troop MCs are there? Durable MCs that score is a huge advantage. Use it.
