Hi dakka, I run a balanced daemon list but am having issues with flyers in this edition. Especially against the necron players at my store running 3-4 or more flyers. Allies seem to be the only way to go outside of a quad gun.

I could grab csm allies, but that only gives me one heldrake.

With ig I can actually take more than 1 flyer. I thought about running a pair of vedettas with scoring dudes inside. Are squadrons of flyers squishy in this edition? Even if they are, 2 vendettas can snipe some cron flyers...

Any help is appreciated.

What Daemons are you running?

I typically can handle flyers with FMC's Fateweaver/Lord of Change Bolt of Tzeentch Somethings better than nothin ^^

If he's only running 3 to 4, the best way to go is either IG allies with Vendettas (the Vendetta is arguably the only truly underpriced flier in the game) or Chaos allies with either a Helldrake (probably the autogun if you are taking it to counter AV11 fliers), Havoks, or both.

Yep flying Daemon Princes are the way to go if you want to keep it a pure Daemon force. I can't really see any reason why they'd be anything other than Tzeentch as well for that bolt.

I typically don't run any fmc. I don't feel that they do enough to flyers to justify their points. Not strong enough to VS, not worth the points for one bolt that the I hope against hope brings down one thru the flyers jink before they all skyfire him, down him, and kill him.

@RegalPhantom: Which is what I posted above, my dilemma is which to choose if any? Do you feel the vendetta squad is worth it?

a squad of vendetas will kill 1 flyer a turn. assuming you have los. so as long as they dont bring 8 like my freind did ageist my deamons today (which i crushed him anyways because i just killed all his scoring units and he couldnt go into hover without being torn appart. personally i ignore them kill the squishys first because the damage out put on most flyers isnt enough to make me wana kill it first anyways.

Havnt had a problem with flyers with the list as of yet. Str 6 VS is fine vs all the crons that pop up, and a Str 8/3xStr 5 shots to Rear armor depending on the flyer.

I would just table his ground forces with Screamers and flamers.

Take Ig allies with officer of the fleet and a quad gun aegis.

Then add fateweaver and a bloodthirster to your primary detachment.

Then you will be able to thin his potency out, take some of it out on the turn it comes in with the quad gun, and survive his shooting with fateweaver's re-rolls long enough to wreck one or two night scythes a turn.

Vendettas seem to be too much hassle for only being good against fliers. I wouldn't take them

A squad of chaos flakk havoks are decent anti air. You can add a dragon too if you like. For Hq and troops you can go super cheap, naked sorcerer and some culitist.

Or if you want something useful grab a cult lord and some cult troops.
