In this BAO test game, Smilin' Dan busts out his Tzeentch Daemons (with blood Thirster!) against the Nids! This game shows some really solid tactics for fighting Daemons of the Tzeentch variety.

Enjoy!

Another good one! I think you did a good job positioning against Daemons etc. But, not bashing Dan, it would have been a better measuring stick vs. a more skilled player that is more used to 6th ed. But either way, nice win and he was in it pretty much till the end! One thing I've noticed more in 6th ed is that a few slip ups or misjudgement can cost you the game. I know it was that way in 5th too, but it seems to be amplified by the random charge distances etc. Needless to say positioning and distance became a LOT more important and it has continued to be proven!

I agree 100%

Board control and model positioning is super important.

And yes, that was not a victory that I am counting as a major feather in my cap by any means, it was more of a learning game for Dan that we just filmed because I thought it would be a match-up folks would be interested in seeing.

I agree that a more tooled list and a player that had some more experience (although Dan is good, he just needs to get up to speed with 6th) would have been a better test of skill, for sure.

Glad you liked it!

Daemons have always seemed like a pretty good match up for Nids, on paper at least. (Sadly, I have yet to face the "dreaded" mono tzeentch list, so this is all talk) Our MCs require twice as many flamer hits to die, plus can get FnP and throw out cheap and easy screens, faster than just about any army. Love the attention Nids are getting lately.

Man Fateweaver and that Daemon Prince being locked up nearly the entire game killed him! I think the Mono Tzeentch list would have wrecked the Nids. Good game though Reece!

I think Nids can take Mono Tzeentch. With board control and tons of attacks (mostly poison) they can take them down, IMO.

We will have to give it a try and see!

Agreed. Bugs have the screening units to handle flamers, and can drown screamers in bodies.

Yeah, and rerolls to wound from Poison and Adrenal really makes short work of Daemons.

I would not be so sure. I'm inexperienced this edition, but I think the game would have been much closer if my screamers and 3 troops dealt with the ymgarls and my flamers went upfield. I was hittig 2+ units on 2 models average each flame shot. Now x5 it and you have a 1+ units of extra crispy gaunts.

We'll have to give it another go sometime. I am sure your next game will be much better as you are more familiar with the rules and my army.
