Hi I have decided on the majority of my army list, but not on the fast attack.
I am looking at something that will help support the jump infantry (or mephiston) and/or provide adequet anti-mech.

This is the army list so far:

HQ
1x Mephiston

Elites
2x Sanguinary Priests (jump pack, hand flamer)

Troops
2x 10 man assault squads (meltaguns, power weapon)

Fast Attack
??????????????????????????????????????????????????

Heavy Support
2x Predator tanks (autocannon, lascannon sponsors)

This totals to 1140
I am looking at a 1500 point army.

All Suggestions Much Appreciated - Thanks

You don't have much in the way of flier defence.

Rather than worry about FA, perhaps look to include a Stormraven?

Conventional wisdom would also suggest another troop choice too, although not compulsory by any means.

If you're adamant on FA choices, then Baals with TLAC would give some flyer defence and open up options with flanking, scout moves etc

You are running a very similar army to me actually, so here's my thoughts.

Attack bikes w/multi-meltas. 2-3 man units. They score in that one mission (Recon...something something, don't have the BRB handy), they have jink now,are decently hard to kill and throw our some decent fire power.

Assault cannon/hvy bolter Baal predators. Work as passable anti-air, and solid anti-infantry. A little pricy IMO, but they would help with AV13 saturation with your AC/LC predators.

I've personally dropped my AC/LC predators for a Storm Raven. It's more effective against flyers, it's tougher to kill, and it can get to where you need it to be. It also provides flexibility in how I deploy my units as it's still a transport.

The stormravens make sense and would fit in with the jump infantry more than predators, is it worth running two though?

What about Land speeders for fast attack???
Whats the deal with them, would they be better than bikes? (competitive wise and fluff wise).

Thanks

A great way to fit good things in there is to ditch Mephiston and take a normal Librarian with a storm shield. He will probably do more than a 250pts sink in 1500pts list. Over 16% of your list is dedicated to this plasma magnet.

A storm shield libby is 145. You can't think of Meph as a 250 point sink, you have to think of him as a 150 point upgrade to your existing librarian.

Let's face it. The Assault marines aren't scaring anything more powerful then a tactical marine in melee, so you need some heavy hitters to assist them. This role is filled by terminators, Sang guard, Furioso dreads and Death Company. Any of those options are going to run you 200+ points, so in these middle sized games it's sometimes better to spend 150 and upgrade your librarian to Mephiston.

If you use him properly and make sure he's always well hidden from enemy plasma/lascannons, he can make a real nuisance of himself. That said, he's lost a fair bit of his charm in 6th edition considering he's only AP3 now. He has to watch out for challenge tarpitting and 2+ save powerfisters, both of which he rolled in 5th edition.

Yes I will be running Mephiston.
Getting back to this topic's topic of Fast Attack

What about Land Speeders??

Are they worth running?

I was thinking of 4 split into squadrons of 2.

Maybe with a heavy flamer and underslung multimelta.

How well would they support other units.

Thanks

Speeders are solid, but not amazing. The reason they were so popular in 5th is that they were vehicles, and short of a good roll on the penetrating table they weren't going anywhere. Now that 2 glances can kill them, they've fallen out of favor (IMO) compared to attack bikes, who still get an armor save on top of the 2 "wounds".

Hvy flamer/MM used to be the preferred setup, and is still very versatile, but I think you'd be better served with double MM, or typhoons. I don't think you really want to get into hvy flamer range anymore, as even bolters are deadly to speeders now.

Ok Thanks, in your opinion, what is better?

The Two multimelters or The typhoons??

Thanks

I have had some good success with the typhoons. They either do great for me or die right away. So they can be very hit or miss imo.

Well, I made good experience with Vanguard Vets, the more the better. Take 5 men squads with a power fist. Such a unit can eventually charge upon arrival thanks to their special rules and in this way silence guns.

150 points without an invulnerable or a unit to hide in. 150 points that has to accept a challenge from every throw away sergeant. 150 points that could be better spent else where.

Where will meph be put? no point putting him in with JP's? unless you use wings every turn. I have only used him in one game with a mix of BRB powers, but forcing yourself to use wings every turn isnt brillant imo.

And just two troops at 1500 is a little low imo.

Personally for Fast Attack you can't go past Dual Heavy Flamer Landspeeders.
