I was wondering about boon of mutation tzeentch power, can it be used on the individual casting it such as a daemon prince casting on himself?

As daemon princes arent "champion of chaos" Im not too sure they can roll on the table. (If he can, then that would mean battle brother characters also can)
But yes a sorcerer could target himself i believe.

It doesn't require the "champion of chaos" rule, just that the target be a character within 2", good idea, I hadn't thought of this.

I learned the other day never to use Boon of Mutation on on of my HQs. I even had a plan to mitigate risk.

Ahriman had Iron Arm so when he went to use Boon on himself, he needed a 6 to even be hurt by it since he was Toughness 7. So I rolled a 66 and had to reroll it.. Rolled a 64 and rolled d3+1 times on the chart or whatever.

He got Fleshbane, Fleet, Adamantium Will, then Spawn.

Never again.

The real insult to injury was that he had Iron Arm, Boon of Mutation, Doombolt and Molten Beam and there were terminators in front of his squad that he could have made "sleepy" very easily

A 64 states that you re-roll spawnhoods and Dark Apotheosis'

I think it's just dark apotheosis you reroll for boon of mutation

So incidentally, if you don't need the champion of chaos rule to be subject to boon of mutation, can you use it on allied daemon characters?

The difficulty is going to be getting them in the 2" range given they are forbidden from joining each others units per the Daemon FAQ.

I'm pretty sure the Boon's range is greater then 2"

It also works with nurgle biker aspiring champs. I plan on using a demon prince with MoT and only 1 mastery level so that you have a 50/50 shot of getting boon of mutation. Then you start him next to some nurgle bikers or plague marines and buff of the aspiring champ 1st turn. It's very minimal risk even if it's not very fluffy.

Well you can still get within 2" of friendly models.

Verdict: Boon on Fateweaver is fun, and even better when 2 Aspiring Sorcerers end up with a 2+ armor save by turn 2.
