So, i've been trolling around the website and all of the various linkage that resides there and I must say that I am completely confused as to how one creates an army. I looked at the army builder but honestly after about 4 or 5 switches back to see which model had which crazy name I just got even more confused. I just can't seem to get in my head how one gets together troops on the infinity battlefield.

From what I have gathered, these are the rules that effect what you can take in an infinity army:

1. You must have a Lieutenant.
2. All models have a deployment limit (I.E. can't take more than x number)
3. There's something about only being able to take special weapons when you have a certain number of points.

As you can see, i'm sort of floundering around in a miasma of doubt. I don't even know which models in any army can be Lieutenants, or if one half of a faction can help the other half of a faction. I suppose I am just so used to WH40k where everything is laid out in the book. HQ section -These are what you can take for HQs and you must take one. Stuff like that.

If anyone can offer any insight, i'd be most appreciative.

Hey there, just a quick reply sorry, i'm multitasking and it isn't my forte!

This thread sounds perfect for you: List building in Infinity

I got the link to it from this sticky thread: Infinity for Beginners
I'm sure you'll find loads of other useful stuff in this thread.

Thank you Jesus, Mary and Joseph. I really appreciate that. I looked through the Infinity for Beginners, but I suppose I was so frustrated I must've glossed over it.

This might help too How to To Use the Army Builder

The number of troops you can take is the AVA (availability)
Under each troops it should say which can be a Lt.
Special Weapon cost is SWC. You get 0.5pts per 50pts of the game. So for a 250pt battle you get 5 SWC to spend.

Thing to think about: You can pretty much make a good army based on what looks cool as well as what they have. It's a very balanced game for the most part.

LOL, CDK were you in a hurry. Fixed in bold.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.
Bob: Outrageous, How dare he say such blasphemy. I've got to do something.
Man #1: Bob, there's nothing you can do.
Bob: Well, I guess I'll just have to develop a sense of humor.

So, just because I didn't want to start another topic on it I wanted to run something by you all. I've been playing around with the army builder and I have got the basics down, only thing to get around now is what army to build. Its been done before, and I am sure you've heard this all a thousand times, but i'd like to make an all female army. The female models from Corvus are simply the best I have seen in all of miniature war gaming. So, what faction is best for this?

From what I have looked over the top two contenders are ALEPH and Haqqislam. Both have large packs of all female models (I.E. Post Human Proxies and Odalisques), and both have some basic trooper models that I can just buy the female models for (I.E. Devas and the female in the Linked Devas and Robots Pack and Guliam Soliders). Would either be easier to do all female?

And how do the respective armies play? If one would produce a lower model count, i'd probably side more with that one as it gives me more ability to think strategically with fewer pieces, and I am far more likely to paint them.

Thoughts?

Females I like Nomads, a whole holy order of kickass, and now Riot Grrls. Now there not to every taste, but as you said ALEPH it should be a problem.

As for force size, the connom goal is 10 models on the table, becouse of how Oders and Combat Gruops work.

Each army can play all style, well except Ariadna who can't Hack, but they have some of the best guns at a cheeper SWC cost then the other factions. It is just each faction a fighting style with there own flavor. Like Nomad GML, while the other faction have to use guy with FO, so there guys can get shot at, Nomads use repeater to do it without the enemy every seeing them.

Peter: As we all know, Christmas is that mystical time of year when the ghost of Jesus rises from the grave to feast on the flesh of the living! So we all sing Christmas Carols to lull him back to sleep.

Again, just a short reply, please don't think i'm being rude.

The all female army is a hot topic right now for some reason, i just ordered one, due next week, and CDK's daughter has just started one.

Here are the threads so you can see our two takes on the subject.

Thanks ya both for your input! I decided to bite the bullet on ALEPH. My goal with this army is to use it to practice my painting skills. I'll be attempting to do the best traditional ALEPH style that I can, which should stretch my abilities quite a bit. Trying to paint white effectively, doing good shading on mostly white models, trying to make female models look attractive...all sorts of good stuff.

Since Infinity is basically unheard of in my area I will be acquiring models 1 at a time and spending as much time on that model as I need to get it looking fantastic. I may even add to the P and M blogs here to give the faction some love. Since it'll be nigh on impossible to find a game, I think this process will be one I can get behind monetarily and as an 'artist.'

That and my lady appreciated that most of the ALEPH women weren't cheesecake.

Aleph is the way I went, Posthumans, the new Atalanta or whatever, the Asuras, Myrmidon officer models, Devas, and well rebots are robots so who cares.

Sounds pretty good! I'll probably try to build ALEPH and Haqqislam at a similar rate. Already have an Asura on order. After I paint that up, i'll either get the Janissary with AP rifle and shock CCW or the Aswakari Regiment with the same load out. They just look too badass not to paint.

Naga Sniper is one of my favorite female models, so much so that I use it as a counts-as Tuareg for my Haqqislam. Now to come up with a back story for it...

Where the sun crosses the field of blood.

During a conflict between some illegal Haqqislam activities and an ALEPH force, they managed to capture a Naga alive. They turned to the Nomads whom "released" the Naga from ALEPH control in their cyberwhatnot laboratories, although at a high monetary price.
Or
ALEPH decided to reinforce Haqqislam because they are on the same side and ALEPH needs to supervise EVERYTHING.
Just two ideas, although slightly off topic.

What if a wealthy Tuareg decided to pay for his child, who had decided to join the military, to have a Cube? When he was killed in action, a fresh Lhost was too expensive to acquire, but the same mission that killed him had managed to bring back the body of a Naga.

With Nomad assistance, the Tuaregs removed the Naga's Cube and replaced it with the one of their sniper, bringing him back in a temporary body.

I would really like to hear how this turns out for you, gamewise. When you get a game in, or if you already have, could you tell how it went? You'd be seriously lacking in manouverability, but since they most certainly are all impetous too, that gives you about twice the amount of orders you would normally have.

Sure thing, they will be bat reps up in my blog and ill be using them once there all here and assembled

Automatically Appended Next Post:
all bar 3 are impetuous.
It merely means I can't stack orders, a popular tactic - Instead my entire team is always on the go.
