I have actually decided to go with the squiggoth.
I found the rules for the forge world Big Squiggoth and it's actually usable in normal games, due to it's size and statline.
That means it can whitstand about as much damage as a trukk, is of course a little slower (monstrous creature), but can hit back when assaulted.

My friend even agreed that I could use it in friendly games.
Also the IG idea was great, but since I forgot to mention it's Finland-themed, an elphant WOULD look odd....

Why don't you play it as a piece of live terrain, start it in the middle of the board roll 4d6 and scatter every game turn and make it go on a rampage, any unit it ends with 6' has to take a pinning test, any unit it ends within 2' of takes a number of strength 6 ap- hits. That was just off the top of my head so it would take a bit more polishing.

Not a bad idea actually. Although I prefer the squiggoth idea now that I have the rules.

Mûmak (pl. mûmakil). Circumflex accent over the first u.

Somewhat related, model elephants are troublesome. I've been trying for years now to find a realistically sized WH scale model to use as an ancient rome-era war elephant, but to no avail. The only things I've come across are either gigantic, like Llama's over there, or tiny, the size of large dogs.

Heh, maybe put some guns on it and make it a land raider! Or put it somewhere on the table and call within 6" of it dangerous terrain.

Well there was that guy in P&M somewhere that made an Aztec Marine. I think it was Aztec. Pretty badass looking to be honest. That would kindda fit with that....kindda
