Correct me if I'm wrong.

Are there no major events early next year?

It seems the first of the year is bay area open and that's not until 3 months into the year.

Id settle for mid sized events from LA to phoenix as well.

Yeah, the Broadside Bash got moved to Spring, they were the biggest even on the West Coast early in the year.

It looks like we're the first big one with the BAO.

The TSHFT open is in January in Seattle.

This is run by a guy who has been putting together 2 day events in Seattle for 5 years now.

Is there some way to find out more info about the scoring or missions for the TSHFT open?

Next weekend there is a November tshft I can ask any questions you want to know. The TO is a friend of mine so I can get some info. I will miss this event since work is sending oversea jan 1st for 5 months. So no tshft or adept icon for me next spring.

I haven't made it up to TSHFT yet, but I hear they're really fun. Maybe we'll make the trip this year! I've never been to Seattle.

By "major events" do you mean GT style events? 5-7 games over 2-3 days?

Or just large 1 day tournament?

Large one day would be even better for me if I went up to the Bay Area or down to San Diego area. That way I can make it a vacation and bring the family instead of killing the whole weekend. That's just me though.

If Sacramento works for you I would suggest the 1250 point tournament they will have in January (date not set yet, will be either 3rd or 4th Saturday of the month) at Great Escape Games.

The last couple of years it has draw 90+ players for a 4 game 1 day tournament.

Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

As a general rule there is a tournament off-season from roughly Veterans Day to President,s day weekend.

West Coast for 40k goes something like:
Slaughter in Space in Feb (small to medium sized event at Ork Con)
BAO in Antioch (largest 40k event on the west coast) in March
Broadside Bash (medium to large 40k, medium fantasy) in San Diego this year in April

The L2 guys have discussed the possibilty of adding 40k to the QCR, but that nothing is firm on that front. That would put an event in May.

That gives you a 40k event every month through til Summer.

Yeah we decided to take the date for Feb, since the Broadside people jumped to Kingdom Con. Fantasy is staying in the fall. Scott and Toby are still finalizing things, but when I last spoke to them about it it was going to be:
6 games, 2k points, no forge world, book missions (with one or two replacements closely like the book missions), and fortifications/double FO allowed. Once they have the packet finalized, I will link it here, but I believe the general philosophy is to stick as close to the book as possible, rather than try and tinker with an edition that has not even been out a year yet.

Too bad there is no Forgeworld at SiS :( possibly next year

Imperial Gaurd 18,000 Orks 16,000 Marines 21,900
Chaos Marines 7,800 Eldar 4,500 Dark Eldar 3,200
Tau 3,700 Tyranids 7,500 Sisters Of Battle 2,500
Daemons 4,000

Well, we have the bennefit of seeing what some really creative dbags can do with it in a controlled environment, thanks to our league. The words "Saber", "Hyperios", and "Interceptor" keep comming up in a lot of our league's internal turd flinging wars, plus we found out that the Necron Air Force army has a harder time winning if you stick to the book missions. I am sure if Scott gets overwhelming feedback he might change some things, but the plan for this year is to keep it as close to book standard as possible.

Perfect! I'll be attending Slaughter for sure, I have been wanting to attend another of your guys events ever since playing at the Slaughter on the Strip a few years back. Looking forward to it!

I've been anxious to look for tournaments on the West coast this spring too. I've finally got my White Scars to a very nice painted standard and can't wait to get to some GTs.

I think Bay Area Open will be my first, i live all the way up in Redding so i usually can only get down to Great Escape Games.

SiS in February? Perfect! That fills out the calendar really nicely.

SiS is a great event, looking forward to it!
