The one that I paid attention to w. As the one going in to help her friends but couldn't get through all the gawkers. I had a house burn down, taking everything I owned with it, because the fire trucks had a hard time getting through the cars ful of gawkers blocking the road. The next day I came back to what was left of the house to find people picking through it.
Yes, you could say that kind of person offends me and it really doesn't take much of a stretch.

I know a fireman who arrived at the scene of a blazing apartment. What happened went kind of like this.
Person: "wtf took you so long?"
Fireman: "we only took 5 minutes."
Person: "this fire's been going for a half hour."
Fireman: "we only received a call 5 minutes ago."
Nobody bothered calling. Everyone was gawking.

I had an issue with this particular breed of fethhead during the Waldo Canyon fire.

The far right of the area in blue is 30th street and the area right past the road is the facility I worked at as a security officer. So we had front row seats as the city burned and eventually had to be evacuated.

From my own personal photos. 26 June 12. The fire taking the ridge by storm.

Now I can understand wanting a look... I gawked a bit myself when I was out on patrol or had a decent view from my post, the line for me is when you are obstructing emergency crews and the like. The road in front of our facility was packed with vehicles. Eventually the CSPD had to close the place down because fire trucks and support vehicles couldn't get to the front lines.

Similarly we had people from the facility and trespassers climbing the hill to get near the reservoir we have on property where firefighting helos were taking on water. Standing on the edge of a tall artificial reservoir when a helo drops down for water is pretty dangerous, which should be common sense when your body is ABOVE the helicopter's blades. We had to eventually put an officer up there all the time and the CSPD added it to their patrol route, the conditions with all the people coming to gawk was making things so dangerous for the flight crews that they were going to have to stop taking on water at that reservoir, which considering how close we were to the front was an invaluable resource that let the helo crews make more runs, faster, on less gas then going elsewhere.

^ This is a real danger on earth! the whole city choked and burned to ash!

Does the fire itself natural or someone set fire in the forest and forgot (or choose not to) control it?

but wait! similar scenario did happen in Thailand. the province of Chiang Mai. the Metropolitans were almost choked for several months because a few peasants started a wildfire to do both functions
- To force the tribals away
- To created a quick deforestations of the airea
Of course ultimately the peasants (or their employers should they had been hired to do it) can claim the plot of land. but the townsmen and tourists suffered too!

People are naturally curious, but most of us have enough common sense to get out of the way or just stay out of the area completely when something bad/destructive/gruesome happens. There was a tornado in my area that wiped out half of a small town over a year ago and there were so many people in the way the responders couldn't even look for bodies.

Sadly its the same with a vehicle accident as well. When I was a teen I was on a motorcycle and ran head first into a car. What should have been 5 people at the most in the immediate area turned out to be 15-20 in seconds. I still do not know where all those people came from. I guess they were wanting to see body parts all over the road.

It sounds like a story I read a long time ago titled"The Crowd". It involved a crowd of people that would gather around traffic accidents and suck the life out of the events and people that were them.

I hate it when I've been in a traffic jam for 20 minutes. Then it abruptly disappears. Why? Because the guy who got pulled over by the cop for w/e reason is now behind me.

So annoying.

It was a massive wild fire, no one's quite sure of the origins yet, still under investigation. It was one of some twenty eight wildfires in the state of Colorado (welcome to the results of a decade of drought) at the time and while it wasn't the biggest it was the closest to the city. The ash was terrible, I was outside a lot of the time and I wouldn't leave a building without my old dust goggles or a paint breather. If I could have gotten a respirator I would have. It was bad out there.
