I wasn't a fan of Naples when I was there a couple of years ago.
I much prefer the North of Italy, much friendlier.

If the thought of something makes me giggle for longer than 15 seconds, I am to assume that I am not allowed to do it.

marv335, I totally agree with this. This place is chaotic, confusing, dirty and loud. It's not uncommon for people to come to a roaring stop on the highway and then BACK UP AGAINST TRAFFIC to get to an exit they missed.

We call our cars "Naples Beaters" because they get dinged so much.

Hoping for a transfer soon...

Am I an expat, yes I would count myself that, much like people have spoken of moving from one state to another. I grew up in Indian country, Anishinaabe country to be more precise.

So a Nation state completely within the boundaries of another state/country.

Since then, I have lived around the USA in a few states, and a year in Edmonton CA.

I have not been back home yet, but I know I will, just a matter of when.

What have I learned? In general, people are the same no matter where you are, mostly everyone wants the same things; a way to support themselves, have a family, etc.

Culturally, white people sure are an odd group.

I'm an Australian expat who's living in the USA, ended up marrying an American lass. Been here for four years now and have loved every moment of it (Especially being out here in Wyoming - it's beautiful). There may be some point where I will want to return home, but for now it's been such a great experience. Culture wise there's not really that much different apart from 1) Snow and 2) Predators (Bears, Mountain Lions, etc.).

Ive moved up north from Nuneaton to Washington.

the only real difference is people actually speak to each other here, even if it is to threaten them with death for supporting the wrong football team.

I wouldn't call myself an expat but I have had a lot of the culture exposure over the years. Was an army brat, born in TX, moved to KY, then PA, Germany, and finally ending up in KS. All by the time I was 6. Since then I have lived in an army town and on an almost daily basis I deal with someone who is new to the area so I witness little differences which I attribute to them being from somewhere else. I don't have to go find culture shock. It comes to me

Hey Kid. You still in China? Where? I'm in Shandong province and didn't bring any minis, but I think the college nerds here could use something other than computer games.
