I am pretty sure I know how deepstrike works, but when I was playing my friend, he was deepstriking with his DA Terminators and would roll the 2 dice and the scatter die. Now he subtracted the highest die and only kept the lowest one for scatter. Is this how it works, you remove the highest of the 2 dice rolled and only scatter the lowest?
I just need to know, because I will be deepstriking with my terminators as well and would like to know which is right.

No, you must roll 2D6 and the scatter dice for deep striking, and then the marker model moves that distance + direction. There are some exceptions to this, such as Descent of Angels (which only uses 1 D6 for models with jump packs), but Terminators is always 2D6 (unless there is something like a teleport homer or locator beacon nearby - but your opponent should specify if he is using such wargear).

In general, no that's not how it works.
You'd need a special rule or wargear to discard a dice.

Is this exception only for SM preferably Dark Angels, or is it all Jump Infantry?

That's an exception for Bangels, not Dark Angels.
I believe Dark Angels can use Teleport Homers / locator beacons, but that stops them scattering all together.
Can't think of any reason why they'd only scatter 1D6

Those servo skull things reduce scatter to 1d6 within 6" or something don't they?
Did he have those?

Not sure, I don't remember him saying anything about them. Next time we play I will see, and find out.

The only thing DAs have are Teliport Homers and Locator beacons on their bikes(and maybe Drop Pods) that make you not scatter at all if within the listed distance of the model with the upgrade.

Deathwing have nothing standard that reduces Scatter. Only BAs with Jump Packs have that.

Grey Knights only, so unless he allied them in..... it wouldnt help the DA though.

It's a shame GK don't have any battle brothers, it would have been nice to exploit those nice cheap servoskulls for DS goodness across the board.

Thats one of the many reasons why they don't have Battlebrothers. Not so much for the GKs, but for the potential people taking GKs as allies.

Blood Angels deep striking with jump packs scatter 1d6; not 2d6 take the lowest.

There is absolutely no rule as described in the original post.

I'm sure that was GW's train of thought when they did that.
If they had IG would not have been BB to anyone either.
