Someone at GW Canada told me GW was remaking and updating BFG anyone heard this too?

Small chance. Most GW staff don't know their rear end from their face when it comes to rumors (really, it's not as if they tell these guys anything!) and remaking a specialist game doesn't quite fit GW's current strategy; the non-core system releases (BotFA, SH, DF) have all been boxed, stand-alone games (okay, BotFA had some expansion things, I believe) not meant to support a mini's range.

Also: //me clinging to his current BFG rulebook and collection, shaking in fear at how they might "simplify" and randomize the feth out of what is now actually quite a good game

as long as it's not dreadfleet in space and only available for 3 weeks.

I think it's unlikely as even as a 'special' like spacehulk as with the Hobbit coming out GW will want to concentrate on that

In all honesty there is little incentive to do update anyway. Most people are cutting back their purchases so it might be hard to sell a new game on people. Maybe fantasy flight could do it, as part of a rogue trader expansion/stand alone?

I have only just dug my old fleet out of the draw where its been mothballed for 2-3 years and its just reaching completation(I.E. painted) and i actually like this game-its fun and really good fluff wise.
If GW remake it it could be a massive disaster akin to the Dreadfleet fiasco(i know a supplier whom got 3 in and still has one left-and he sells them cheap-just follow the link in my sig to see)

I mean can you imagine them letting ward get his hands on it? No dont-my sanity is questionable enough as it is........

Out of the box, and BFG's rules were always praised for their ba-ba-ba

I'm sorry I can't keep a straight face. Suffice to say GW long ago gave up any pretense of being a workshop of games perfering to ride their two-headed Warhammer horse until it drops dead under them.

The recent Scary Boat fiasco only seems to show they no longer have any idea how to make a fun done in one game.

There's a reason we have an 'Unsupported Games' forum.

BFG seems to have passed into the "fan supported" phase quite well. Using the 2010 faq is quite enjoyable, at least if you can find people to play. It usually isn't too hard to convince people to start, with the low entry price and ease of painting.

As for remake, the closest thing I have heard is the BFG:Revised project over here:

It may be a fan project but they are turning out some good rules.

GW has little interest in their expansions anymore, not stocked in their stores and is only one their website because people still buy them.
