Hi!
Ive been lurking on the forum for a while, never actually posting anything, so i uess this is my first post here!
anyway, throughout my time lurking i have seen many army lists and tactica documents, and have finally decided to formulate my own army list for my chosen army necrons.
i am a first time 40k player and i have absolutely no idea what im doing.
anyway here is the list
1000 pts necrons
Hq
Overlord – warscythe – sempiternal weave – mindshackle scarabs – resurrection orb - 160
Royal court
Harbinger of Destruction – solar pulse – 55
Harbinger of Destruction – 35
Harbinger of Despair – veil of darkness – 60
Harbinger of despair – nightmare shroud - 40
Troops – 10 warriors – ghost ark – 245
- 10 warriors – 130
Elites – 5 deathmarks – 95
Fast attack –
Heavy support –
Annihilation barge x 2 – 180

Any critiqueing is appreciated and welcomed.
keep in mind that any suggested changes would have to be cost effective ( NO SCARAB FARM) as im not rolling in money at the moment.
thanks in advance.

it aint easy being cheesy

in a necron tomb world under youre house

I had a list that was sort of like your's but i threw it out because it didnt work.
Two things i know is that first if your going to take an overlord that doesnt have the pharon upgrade and is in a blob then he meust have a CCB to go around in.
Second, with that much HQ you dont have enough different groups and your opponent can wipe you of the bourd by focus fireing.
Although my list had 1300 points in HQ. But it was a 2000 point list.

keep in mind that Fast attack is our second best slot and you have nothing there so keep that in mind.

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high

I would mention to you that you can only have 1 cryptek from a royal court in your squads, so having 2 is illegal, I would take 1 with the VoD to go with the Deathmarks, then take two destroteks, one for each warrior squad. You'll need to reduce the number of warriors in the arc down to 9 to do this, freeing up a few points
With that, and one less cryptek, take either a PS on the Overlord, or maybe consider beefing up your ground warrior squad.

Bedouin Dynasty: 10000 pts
The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts

I agree with Iguy, lose 1 despair cryptek.

Then, I ask why take an Orb on your Overlord?

Let me run some math past you:
In order to make those points back, you need to save 40 points worth of models. That is what makes the orb more useful than more warriors, right? So, the only models that your orb saves are the models that roll exactly a 4 on the RP roll. In essence, you need to make 6 RP rolls on a unit with an orb to save 1 model this way, average. If the lord is going with the Deathmarks, you need to save about 2 models this way to make the points back. That means that the unit has to roll 12 RP saves on average to make the points back. That kills the unit more than twice. I would wager that even in optimum situations, you will never GET the opportunity to roll 12 times for them, as your enemy will likely focus-fire them to death in one go.

If the Overlord is going with the Warriors, you need to save 3 warriors with the orb to make the points back. That's 18 rolls. This might actually happen, but you would have to be very lucky to make the points back.

I believe that a better alternative would be to simply take 7 deathmarks or 13 warriors.

There is the case that the orb will help the Overlord himself, but, this would only ever come up about 1 in 4 games.

I would say Nix the orb and the VoD cryptek, and spend those 100 points putting the Deathmarks in a Nightscythe. Precision Death-Star hunting is pretty beastly.

That it may be, but if he's new, he might not have a NS yet.

Being the case, OP, would you care to A) tell us what other models you have access to, and B) tell us what you plan on doing with this list.
(makes it easier to give constructive criticism)
