I'm looking at taking some Eldar as an allied detachment for my Eldar Corsair army. Could I take the Wraithseer as my allied HQ even though it states "they may not be used to fulfill the
mandatory HQ slot on a force organization chart" but as I'd also have the Corsair Prince would this be legal?

Wraithseer use an HQ slot. However, they cannot fill the mandatory slot. As such you cannot use a Wraithseer in an allied detachment.

Greebo had spent an irritating two minutes in that box. Technically, a cat locked in a box may be alive or it may be dead. You never know until you look. In fact, the mere act of opening the box will determine the state of the cat, although in this case there were three determinate states the cat could be in: these being Alive, Dead, and Bloody Furious.

I'm I also right in thinking that you can only take 1 allied HQ?

Yeah, you can't have a Wraithseer as an Allied HQ because the allied HQ is still a mandatory choice(if you take allies)

Yes. If the Wraithseer was an HQ choice that did not use a slot, that would be different. As it stands, you can never have a Wraithseer in an allied detachment (even with multiple FOCs).

Was this FAQed? I seem to remember 6th Edition 1.0 you could take a priest as a HQ on a guard detatchment. Or am I imagining this.

Priests are an HQ choice that does not use up an FOC slot (and cannot be your Warlord). Wraithseers are an HQ choice that use up an FOC slot, but can only be an optional HQ, not a mandatory HQ. Ally FOCs have only a single mandatory HQ slot.
