Hey guys, I am trying to make some battlefoam trays and they dont have cutouts for the IG Manticore and the Griffon. I don't have either one of those models. Could someone do me a solid and shoot me the dimensions HxWxL of these two models.

It would be much appreciated.

You use a tape measure to play the game, right? Just measure the size of the body by length and width, then measure up from the bottom of the tread to the top of the griffons gun. try your best to be within 1/4 inch (6mm, roughly, for euro's).

With the manticore, just use the same measurements for the body and take the missile rack off and store it in a seperate tray.

Easy

Don't they just use the Chimera chassis?

if it holds a chimera/basilisk/hellhound, it will hold a griffon or a manticore! although id suggest the basilisk spot for the manticore for its higher profile. Unless your cheap like me and made a custom griffon out of German Tiger I tank body kit ( i honestly dont believe a light siege mortar should be on the same platform as a massive siege gun, it would be on something small and quick)

Yes, I do have a tape measure, here's the problem:

The stock models are pretty much the exact same dimensions as a chimera. The exception being the manticore which has the missile wrack on top, which goes up about an inch off the body. Naturally, if youre smart, or awesome, you can magnetize the missiles and the launcher and take them off separately, leaving you with roughly the same vertical profile once you remove them. (its also really nice for keeping track of when you are running out of missiles on your manticore). Since the griffon has not had an official model from GW for a while, you can use a cut off basilisk gun, make one yourself out of a Demolisher cannon, or buy the obscenely expensive, albeit very pretty forgeworld model http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer-40000/Imperial_Guard/Imperial_Guard_Tanks/VANAHEIM-PATTERN-GRIFFON.html . regardless, you should get getting roughly the same size as a chimera no matter what!

Edit: I suddenly had a rather genius moment, the size and proportions of the Manticore would easily allow you to make it so you can magnetize the missiles on board to switch out with a big cannon of your own making and deisgn, allowing it to perform double duty and still look pretty cool! Just get something heftly like a demo canon, sawed off medusa, or a nova canon, combine with the blast shield from a basilisk and have the cannon off center next to the little view slot that sticks out of the front of the manticore.

This isn't true. The Griffon has a gunner's platform that hangs off the back about 1" and a tall periscope, so a cutout sized for a Chimera won't fit one. You'll need to extend the back of the cutout a bit, and make sure it's in really deep foam (I'm not at home with my models right now, but IIRC it's about 3-4" tall).

There is no such thing as a hobby without politics. "Leave politics at the door" is itself a political statement, an endorsement of the status quo and an attempt to silence dissenting voices.

I don't have a chimera either, it's for someone else. NM, I'll figure it out.
