Also, one problem that may arise in the future for me: in all likelihood, by time November pops around, I'll probably be living somewhere else. Would it be possible to change my shipping address at some point after the KS is over (as in, up to 8 months down the line)?

Some of the models are begging for a foam storage and transport option - Spidecules being the chief among them at this point!

Hopefully someone comes up with something at some point!

Good luck with the Kickstarter.

At Games Workshop, we believe that how you behave does matter. We believe this so strongly that we have written it down in the Games Workshop Book. There is a section in the book where we talk about the values we expect all staff to demonstrate in their working lives. These values are Lawyers, Guns and Money.

Huh?

I mean, it is about to hit $700K with 3 weeks left to go, and should finish north of 1 million dollars...

Are you, or we, missing something here?

Since CMON is shlepping yet another KS, I'm out.

YET, I don't need to be the one to pee in the punchbowl, so to speak, so I leave it at= Good Luck.

I'm out if they are in.

It's not a CMON KS, it's Adams, he posted this on the previous page

"Just so its clear. CMON has only recently been involved in the campaign and it's only to boost marketing support. We agreed to that news of the campaign would be included in 4 of their emails they send out to their fans every saturday and to doing a special miniature together.

The post on cmon front page news, the facebook and the callout from their current kickstarter Guilds of Cadwallon, were all just... unexpected bonuses! I am extremely thankful as they went above and beyond and have put their name behind me because of our partnership and they are proud of how the well the kickstarter is doing without their direct involvement.

To their credit, I will say that Chern pretty much invented this style of running kickstarter campaigns. Be it luck, or genius or a bit of both they set the trend and I am merely following it, adding my own personal touch and trying my best to stay on top of the CRAZY amount of communication it requires!

I am happy to be working with CMON and there is a chance that when the game is finally released ( after kickstarter rewards have been fulfilled ) we will look into publishing it together. Our relationship has been extremely healthy and very simple, I send them miniatures and they sell them. Nothing more complex then that, no investments and no extra dependencies."

so all CMON has done is give it a shout out (and been involved in coming up with the Xmas White Speaker optional figure that you can choose not to get since they are a big seller of KD figures).

They may however be involved in publishing the game AFTER the KS has been fulfilled

Wait... what's so bad about CMON?

I haven't really kept up with any of their kickstarters (or kickstarters in general), so I don't really understand what's so bad about CMON and their kickstarters.

I've ordered plenty of miniatures and supplies from CMON, and they've always had solid service.

@Endtransmission I'm wondering if you are referring to Sedition Wars because the "brains" behind that is Studio McVey which is based in the UK and sending off the European orders while CMoN does the US. So hardly a distributor for CMoN in the UK.

@Fafnir Adam has answered this by saying he would need to verify addresses shortly before he sends out the product. Ref: http://kingdomdeath.tumblr.com/post/37581920549/since-the-estimated-delivery-is-november-2013-im-sure

@Grot6 That's a bit of a weird response since all CMoN is doing is getting some more attention for the kickstarter; they are not planning, controlling or taking over in regards to the actual game. They are just getting the word out in regards to Kingdom Death, which they have done for years. I just feel your beef with CMoN should not hamper your support for KD:M; in the end though it's your money.

I dont understand the problem with CMON either. The Kickstarters they've run so far have been pretty great. Their service is very good.

What's the deal?

Yeah, but they also seem to offer no-import-VAT shipping on Soda Pop / Relic Knights. So it looks like they have someone (might just be McVey returning the favour?)

Probably just wanted to quit either way. Better to quit with a bit of internet-drama than quit silently. It is hard to believe that this was the only thing that swayed the opinion from "fantastic-must-have-it" to "no-way". It might just be the final straw / opportunity for someone not happy with it for many reasons.

If they could offer that for this, then that'd be great; I'm very aware that even at the minimum box level ($176 with a black Friday deal) I'm already over the import thresholds, so I need to budget for that. If it could be sent out from a UK distributor I can spend much more

What little dealings I've had with CMON (which is just zombicide) have been very great. Am I missing something? I'm in this no matter what because I think its gonna be awesome but I'm just curious what the beef with CMON is. To each their own and all, I'm not trying to judge, just curious.

My issue with CMON is that they are dominating KS and don't need my pledge. Not a huge point, but one that matters to me. Also, seemingly the mold maker is the same too, right? So while CMON isn't running the KS, it is close to theirs, using the same template, mold maker, and possibly producer in the end.

I'm not saying it's a huge problem, just articulating the issue. It ended up keeping me out of the McVey / Sedition Wars KS somewhat, too, although I know that was Much more connected. Hopefully this doesn't earn me folks jumping down my throat

I love KD and wish them tons of success! But at this time, as a Kickstarter, this just isn't for me. I highly expect to pick up some more of their figs in a year or so when they become available, after you lot get yours

But I don't KS just to save money and pay in advance- I do it to help worthy projects happen that otherwise wouldn't. For me, CMON tips this from "kickstart" to "buy". Like I said, hopefully this doesn't result in net rage

There's a bit of a backlash against some of the perceived 'bigger' players in the KS game, as well as what does and does not 'deserve' to be there.

There's also some lingering bias against CMON due to past business associations as well.

No big deal, but there it is.

Funny, actually, because I'm not really how 'big' CMON really is, in any sense of the word.

Still, as Zweischneid mentioned, some people want out, and here's a reason, maybe?

Interesting stance, especially as we don't know how much of a 'cut' CMON takes, and I'd say that the McVeys and the Poots of the world 'need' the pledges, as they are, comparatively speaking, 'smaller' companies.

It will be interesting to see how many people feel the same way.

I'm guessing it will be a minority, and that many will be more concerned with the overall quality and value of what's being offered.

Interesting indeed since KD is a one man operation but all of a sudden they get a nod from a bigger player makes them into something more.

I ask, how many mold makers are there? If a template (I assume KS template) seems to work, why change it or struggle with making your own?

This is not discount shopping for me, this is supporting Adam Poot's vision and dedication. If this was just for a game I wouldn't be supporting the kickstarter. Adam has been slowly building up his market for the last 3 years to hopefully get his game funded. Now it is happening, but as soon as CMoN is like "Good show, since we've been supporting you by having your minis in our store, would it be cool to get a special mini? We will mention your kickstarter in our newsletter." Adam Poots is "The Man" that doesn't need our support. Just smacks of shallow thinking and knee jerk reaction.

Yeah, it's all relative- mine was not a hate filled post I think just my thought process. But the McVeys and Poots (CMON connection) are making millions, while the Ed Fortae's, Tre Manor's, and On The Lamb type companies are in the 10K region.

I don't mind CMON, but I use Kickstarter to launch projects that need it, and that I want to be a part of, hand-in-hand... so it just becomes buy-not-kickstart for me at this point (all factors combined, not just one- but I'd be lying if I didn't say CMON was One of those factors).

Still going to follow/drool over this

I wish you and Ed Fortae / Trollforged could team up, Wehr! You're my favorite "boutique" casters atm (and Poots' mystery man from France, who does his resin).

I dunno, I wouldn't want to punish Poots for being successful, and likewise not punish CMoN for putting out or backing products that people REALLY want and spend a lot of money on. While I would like other KSs to do better, I don't think the answer is to not back other things you like.

To each his own. Everyone has the right to their opinion. I'm not gonna lie though, this game and the minis look so cool I would still want it even if Bill Gates was in on this somehow. Also, looks like we might hit the spiducles mark here in the next two days or so. Hopefully by Wednesday. Does anyone know anything about the two humans we see in the preview pic of spiducles?

Yes, to each his own! As Alph says, the beauty of crowd funding.

Ah, but there's the rub! I have a finite number of dollars- say X dollars. If I put $300 here, I have less elsewhere. So it is, in some ways, a choice. For example, I could only back Dreamforge OR Sedition Wars, not both.

To each his own, the beauty of crowd-funding!!!

Going to bow out now, let's get back to talking about Spidecules!!!
