As the title says.

A live woman with an 8 1/2 month old baby inside of her. Say it dies like I almost did, by strangling itself with the umbilical cord (thats right I was emo before it was popular). Walking Dead rules, aka everyone who dies turns and you don't need to be bitten. Would it have the strength to rip its way out of the womb? A baby that age has very little strength, no teeth, no fingernails, but it would have zombie determination.

What do you think Dakka?

And to avoid the blood transfer question lets say the umbilical cord twisting that strangled it also pinches the blood flow.

Honestly I don't know. I could see it but also couldn't.

Dawn of the Dead remake basically suggests that yes it would be able to... Though I believe the baby was cut out or born normally...

No... it wouldn't be strong enough to rip itself out of the mother.

lil' emo baby zombie might be able to eventually crawl out of the decomposing body.

BTW... Dead Alive was a great entry for Peter Jackson... it was (may not be anymore) the most goriest movie ever.

I thought she gives birth to it in the Dawn of the Dead remake. Also she's a zombie too, so their flesh isn't as strong.

You are correct, it has been a few years since I have seen that movie.

I literally just watched it this past weekend lol. Its pretty good zombie fare to me, if you can get past the highly variable reanimation times and fast zombies.

Yeah... what tweaked me more than anything in that movie was the scene where right before they entered the Mall... a Jogger was running on scene looking all normal, then he turned towards the group showing his OTHER arm already chewed off...

classic whoa man.

The Asian guy? I loved that scene! The no legger swinging from the pipes was awesome too.

On Topic, maybe going a bit far but it could start ripping the cervix. Then it has a chance maybe.

Yup... Asian dude... tweaky.

On Topic... if the body is badly decomposing, then yeah... but right when the mom dies... no, the vaginal canal is too narrow. Live birth, the mother has hard enough job to push the baby out (pelvis expands and vag canal expands a bit).

Now, the important question here is does undeath begin at birth, or the moment of conception?

Also, I believe that the baby kind of has an easy access escape route in this situation, the only problem being that the door (cervix) is closed.

And I thought my thread about disposing of a body was too macabre for the O-tizzy.

But, on-topic; wouldn't it more accurately eat it's way out?

Zombie infant baby doesn't have teeth.

There is no way a zombie baby would have the strength to pull or tear its way out. Keep in mind a baby is roughly 4-5 months old before they can even have the muscle strength to roll over. My baby is just over 5 months and he can't even sit up straight. Now if we are dealing with super strength zombies then maybe.

Sure, but it has superhumanly strong jaws, right?

I guess thinking back to the only zombie baby I remember seeing; the one from the Dawn of the Dead remake; that one didn't look especially strong. It just looked creepy and maybe hissed a little, but it couldn't even really move. I suppose my vote would be no, the best it could do is kill the mother via septicemia.

I would imagine that an unborn baby zed would eventually be able to find an "exit" of some sort, but I don't think it would be in some "Alien Chest Burster" fasion, but rather the result of (very) long term digging.
Now, I wonder if, should the mother die due to any enternal injuries caused by having a zombie baby tearing around inside her, would the "normal" birth process continue ( as the DOTD remake suggest) or would the mother and child simply stay in a permenant state of "togetherness"?

I'd lean toward the togetherness. At least until the mom has decayed to the point where the zombaby would just fall out. Of course I'm not sure how far the zombaby's decomposition would be at that point anyway. There may not be anything left by then. IDK

... ... So, since zombies have no heartbeat are you cleverly implying that it couldn't be done?
