So the thought popped into my head just now, if you use puppet master and resolve it against a model in base contact with a Quad Gun/Icarus LC, either by choosing the model or because of random allocation, can you use the gun to shoot itself?
First I am presuming if a model in base contact with a Quad Gun gets hit by puppetmaster I can make them fire it as it counts as one of their weapons.
Second, Puppetmaster says the affected model may not shoot it's own unit and the Quad Gun counts as a separate target for shooting and is therefore not part of the firing models unit.
Anyone have anything to contribute to this?

If a model is in base contact with the quad it's considered armed with the quad and may use either the quad or it's regular weapon

Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail, and never get to try again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb, but refuse. They cling to the realm, or love, or the gods…illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is, but they’ll never know this. Not until it’s too late.

The gun emplacement does not shoot, the model that is in b2b does. So it can not shoot itself.
The other way around, using the gun emplacement to shoot at the gun emplacement? I think it works

That is what I meant, the gun emplacement shooting itself.

I would think that it is possible. It could be that the gun "misfires" and blows itself up.

Can the model see the Quad-gun? Yeah, thus he can shoot it.
A model in BtB with a Quad-gun can shoot it instead of one of his regular weapons.
So yes you can shoot a quad-gun with itself.
Is it silly? Only if you take shooting it at face value. Take it as the guy is being instructed to sabotage the gun but say messing up the loading mechanisim.

Considering it's firing shots, I'll take it at face value.
On a side-note I would not play it the way you're suggesting.

Just imagine the model pointing the gun straight down at its base and pulling the trigger.

if you try to shoot a gun with itself in a game then explain it with rule lawyer-ing, I'm going to pack up and leave. LoS is drawn from the barrel of the firing weapon. He may fire the thing, but you can't draw a line from the barrel tip to the gun. That is the opposite direction the model is facing. Bullets also don't reverse course immediately after exiting the barrel. The ability to magically alter the fundamental rules of reality would be mentioned. Maybe in the FAQ somewhere. Near the back.
Pointing the gun down and firing hits the ground. There isn't a floor. It's a line. If your going for the physical model angle, you can't actually point the thing at itself in any conceivable way.
Seriously, I feel like I'm being trolled.

The Quad-gun itself is never shooting. And down the barrel is only used for vehicles.
The model operating the Quadgun is where the shots are originating from. Thus he can see the Quad-gun and obviously has range, which is all that is required to shoot at someone.
Don't apply real world logic to Warhammer, it breaks the game in other areas. Suspend your disbelief and play the game.
