This is more for fun, but I would love some thoughts on whether it could work or not. The plan is pretty straightforward, the Haems and wracks charge up, drop webway, hope to live, and then out comes all the nasty MC's to squash things. Its 4 MC's and 14 mini MC's, I would imagine if I could get them all on the board near the enemy they would manage to do some damage. Am I greatly underestimating these units' effectiveness? Or is the webway deployment too iffy to ever really work? I'd love ideas on how to make this work (Eldar/DE monstermash) and any substitutions/additions you'd think would really make the list. Thanks in advance.

Big concern I would have with that list is not having the first turn. If I understand your strategy the only thing on the board at start is a single venom with 4 wrack and an haemonculus. Any gunline will pretty much slaughter everything you have on board before you can do a thing. Otherwise this would be a funny list to play I guess.

A wraithguard blob with a lord is a nice compliment to triple talos.
The wraithlord needs another gun instead of a sword, and should be the main source of AT fire from lances, missiles and scatter lasers. Leave close combat to the talosi(?)
I would advise against the webway portal, as you cant assault out of them(and allies cant use em) and just rush up with monsters instead.
Wrack squads are fine in threes to get venoms. You only need a single hamey to get them as troops.
I would throw the grotesques into a raider, put the hamey here. Grotesques should also have a liquifier, maybe an aberation with a venom blade.
If you can find the points, grab baron saythonyx. Throw him in the wraithguard to make them a wall of unkillable death(Shroud, hit and run, a 2++ re rollable save in the front to eat fire, Assault/defensive grenades, more CC power) He also helps with getting first turn.

this basicly and the baron would be a nice little addition to the wraithguard
also you may want to try to find more room for troops as their a lttle light, but overall I deffinately like the uniqueness of the list and wish you best of luck!

If I were to do a monster mash I'd probably flip the Eldar and DE.
Take a farseer, wraith seer and 3 Lords and then have baron + guard and a talos.
Wraithseer's are brutal warlords and they make tanks explode quite nicely (and nothing says evil like a S10 T8 W4 psyker who is a wraithlord). I've been play testing my wraith army and most people crap themselves when you managed to get FNP off on a wraithguard squad or a wraithlord (one of the 3 seer powers is to give FNP for 1 turn to a guard/lord/the seer of your choice). Or giving guard/lords fleet for a turn. Put that on top of your farseers fortune/guide. Plus the wraith herself will have a 3+/5++ save +fortune +potential FNP. One very strong warlord. The only hitch is that it can only be taken as your 2nd HQ choice (need a seer/autarch/PL as your compulsory) so you cant field her as an ally.
To cope with AT/anti hoard go with serling's AT suggestion for the lords and put a D cannon on the seer. She becomes a boss at everything with that - auto wound 2+ auto glance 3+ auto pen 5+ insta death 6+, etc...
Then grab a squad of rangers to hunker down in cover and snipe. Then get Baron and a talos + a squad of haywitches maybe or a warrior blob to grab OBJ's (or get a small grot squad with aberration and heamie and a small 3 man wrack squad to fill your troops and grab the venom).
Fluff wise - a wraith strike force using outcasts and their DE contacts bring in a heamie coven to help with w/e you are trying to kill.

So far the effectiveness of 10 Wraithblades with Ghost Axes:
Tanked 2 Leman Russ squadrons (including the battle cannons and the triple plasma variant); whilst also getting wailed on by everything imaginable in a Fortress of Redemption. Only to get into CC with the tanks and open them up.
2000 points worth of Necrons with Forgeworld additions. Got into CC with a court of Lords and opened them up.
Killed a GUO.
Killed Angrath the Gargantuan Bloodthirster in an Apoc game (with the help of Iranna the Spirit Seer).
Ate a Hammerhead, pathfinders and scored after 3 turns of walking towards a 2000 point Tau gunline and overwatch!
And counting............ |

Thanks for the input guys.
After quick consideration I agree that taking the baron and walking everything anchored to the wraithguard is probably an overall better idea.
With that in mind here is a list of the changes and some options im considering since I'm not entirely sure what to do with 414 points:
Wraithlord drops the sword, gets a bright lance -155 pts (30 more)
Drop Haems and pick up the baron to further cover the wraithguard.
At this point the army sits at 1086 and is the whole original eldar portion (with the new WL) + baron and the 3 talosi. So I have 414 pts to spend and all I am forced to take is 2 troops.
I'm leaning towards one of two ideas at the moment, that on the whole serve the same purpose, to get in the enemies face/force fire to be split so the big guys can close in. One option is a Haemonculus(liqui/psnblade) with 9 wracks (1 liqui) in a raider and another raider with 8 wracks and a liquifier. This is two beefy (for DE) squads that can be in the enemy's face quickly with a decent amount of ouch templates (they shouldnt do too poorly in CC against any non-cc unit either).
The other option makes use of the baron making hellions troops and just stacks them, resulting in two units of 12 hellions (each with a helliarch with stunclaw). Again the idea being to distract/engage quickly.
So what do you think about those options? I'm clearly willing to hear any other ideas or thoughts on the best way to use those last 414 points, but otherwise feel the army is shaping up nicely. As an aside I'd also love to get opinions on giving the talosi TL-liquifier guns since I just noticed theyre only 5 pts, I havent seen this upgrade in too many lists but it seems like a good deal (and they still get d6 attacks anyways right?). Again, thanks in advance for any comments/criticism.

Hellions suck and are huge packs of failure just waiting to die to the first blast or template weapon thrown their way. They are mobile, but so are raiders..
I think wracks are pretty boss, you could go cheap and run a 5 man wrack squad with a liquifier in a venom with 2 sc's, and run another squad of nine with a liquifier, aberation with something cool, then a hamey with a liquifier and some other toys(I suggest a shattershard or venom blade) in a raider with sails and shock prow.
Gives you some spare points to grab doom and spirit stones for your farseer. Maybe night shields on the venom, etc.

Hellions don't suck! Just can't play them like they're marines. In this list, just take 1 large unit & a 3 man wrack squad, start the Baron w/the wracks for the fnp, then join the hellions. This & appropriate cover will make them much more resilient.
I would use them either as screening unit or as a counterassault unit hiding out behind your wraithgaurd, ready to assault anything that gets near your wraithgaurd, only to hit & run, so you can shoot the bejeezus out of the offending unit. Try to assault out of cover & always take a pgl. I prefer a powerlance on them, so they don't bounce off marines.
If you can, try to let them finish off units, as they get much better w/pain tokens. In my opinion they work the best in squads of 15-20. 30-40 bs4 poison is nothing to sneeze at either.
I really like the direction your list is heading! It's nice not to see the same ol' cookie-cutter list. Nicely done.
