Hey guys

So last night i treated myself to quite alot of a preheresy death guard army which I am proper excited about, but i have a question. How well do the current rhino and landraider kits fit with the preheresy theme?
I can't afford to get the upgrade kits from forgeworld, but still need a couple of rhinos and a landraider, would the current kits be marks of tanks used in the heresy? Also the same goes for a drop pod I own but never assembled.

Thanks in advance

Drop Pods and Rhinos are in the FW HH Book as allowable units.

There are land raiders, too. Phobos (I think) is pretty much the current "godhammer" land raider, isn't it?

Not sure how many Rhinos you need, but this might work for you

Checked for Rogue Trader era Land Raiders, but they're more expensive than the FW versions.

Semi off topic, but I just wanted to ask. I heard that the earlier versions of Rhinos were skinnier than the ones now. Can you confirm that statement?

Also, I know that the current version of the Rhino (Damocles?) was used in the Heresy. There was another version of it, I believe Diemos pattern, but I think it was being phased out of production back then because it was such an old model (in 30k, not irl). I know you can get them on FW, but I can't remember if it's a full kit or just a conversion kit.

Yes old rhinos are about a quarter inch or so smaller than the new ones.

Lexicanum goes over a list of vehicles used in pre-heresy SM Legions:

"Current" Land Raiders (aka Land Raider Phobos) were used back then but were simply less common. Rhinos had a slight astetic difference but still more or less were the same thing. I'm unsure if modern Predators were around or if they were simply Predator Deimos.

My Armies:
5,500pts
2,700pts
2,000pts
