Considering what I'm most likely to recieve in christmas (either two Necron battleforces or a Megaforce) I've created two potential lists which also include a cryptec and an Overlord

Here goes

List one, silver tide (two battleforces

HQ
Necron overlord w/ warscythe, sempiternal weave, res orb and minshackle scarabs. 160p

Elites
10 Deathmarks w/ harbinger of despair, Veil of shadows 240p

Troops
10 Warriors in a Ghost ark 245p
10 Warriors in a Ghost ark 245p
20 Warriors 260p (Overlord here)

Fast Attack
10 scarab swarms 150p

Total 1310 points

The tactic here should be quite obvious, march up with the tide, Death and Despair takes out some nasty enemies and the scarabs hunt armour. Alternatively I could build the DeathMarks as Immortals.

Heres the other list!

HQ
Necron overlord w/ warscythe, sempiternal weave, res orb and minshackle scarabs. 160p
Necron overlord w/ warscythe, sempiternal weave, res orb and minshackle scarabs mounted on a CCB 240p

Elites
5 Deathmarks w/ HoDtek (veil) 155p
Triarch Stalker 150p

Troops
9 warriors in Ghost Ark 232p
10 warriors (lord here or in unit above) 130p
5 warriors (for home base objective) 65p

Fast attack
6 scarab swarms 90p
3 Tomb Blades w/shadowlooms 90p
3 Tomb Blades w/shadowlooms 90p

Heavy Support
Tomb Spyder 50p

Total 1452

So any thoughts?

For the first list, i would suggest trying to get a Harbinger of the Storm into each ghost ark, giving them some real anti-tank ability. Other than that, you just seem to lack some ranged anti-tank, harbingers of storm and destruction are good for this, and a doom scythe slotted in would be good for taking out real tough targets. Maybe some heavy destroyers?

Theese lists are made using what I will have available, what to add next will probably be som Destroyers so yes, heavy Destroyers could work

With the first list I'm thinking that my anti-tank will come from volley after volley of Gauss fire and the pesky scarabs (gotta love 4 attacks a base and entropic strikes)

Automatically Appended Next Post:
After thinking some things through for the second list I could change theese things, drop one Tomb Blade and go for a full unit of 5, trade Deathmarks for Immortals (to hold an objective home base) and change my warriors to 1 group of 19 warriors w the lord (and a stormtek) plus 1 group of five in the Ark to jump out on a cleared enemy objective (and provide the broadside with 5 extra gauss flayers effectively making it 10 Flayers)

Any thoughts on this versus the original second list?

5 Triarch Praetorians with Voidblades and Particle Blaster

Trazyn the Infinte

I like list 1 better. Consider running Zahndrekh and takign a lord kitted out for challenges to escort him. Being able to give any unit tank hunters is HILARIOUS with warrior blobs and ghost arks.

The double ghost arks blob is a lose/lose for your opponent... you either pour a ton of fire into 2 AV13 vehicles to stop the respawn or waste shots at the undying blob. Talk about a bad time! Half your warriors will stand back up and 2-6 more come back from the arks!

Always run annihilation barges. Just do it. Seriously. They rock.

I never quite got the idea with Annihilation barges, why is it that they rock?

Thank you, sadly I don't have Zahndrekh available but I'll consider him!

Yeah I thought so as well, I just imagined the horror of 20 warriors with a 4+ RP rolls and 2D3 getting back at the start of each fase

Just use the Trazyn you're getting, shouldn't have too much issue from most players for that.

AB are the bestest... ONLY 90 points for AV13 4 TL S7 shots that arc on a 6... they're great for even shooting down flyers since you only hit on a 6, but if you do, 2 extra free hits and you reroll the non-6s! Plus, it can arc onto units within 6 inches. I always use the underslung gauss cannon for MEQ popping as well, but if you want it to do anti-flyer detail, more tesla is better.

My FLGS players hate them and always gun for them first, leaving my invinci-blob to rapid fire away to their heart's content.

Now that you mention it... It does sound pretty amazing! I'll make sure to try 'em out!

I would consider trying to convert a lord to Zhandrekh, because his ability to give and take special rules really is AMAZING! Annihilation barges are really good too! (Even though I inly have one I have seen their effects). Also, if you use Deathmarks, take them in two squads. That means a second marked unit. If you can, have at keast one veiltek in each of the units.

PS: fun to know there are more Necron players in Sweden XD

If you have access to three AB, run them. And lots of warriors. Sprinkle some lords and crypteks with reso orbs and veil of darknessesss. Sell the Walking crab things and bikes guys on that internet auction house place and get your self some Wraiths and a Dlord for them to hang out with. Then walk forward, shoot, rinse, repeat. And run the Nightbringer with the wraiths for extra awesome.

Yeah... Unfortunately, I live pretty far from there... in Västra Götaland. But still fun to know there are more Necron players!

And by the way... spacewolved is right about barges. If you have three, run them. They're great. Running the Nightbringer with wraiths if you use them should be pretty fun and powerful too (never tried it though). Also a destroyer lord with wraiths is just scary. A really hard hitting close combat unit with preffered enemy to everything...

As for loads of warriors, I personally think that's great fun! I did a 2000pts game against a friend playing old edition chaos space marines with only warriors and HQ. I ran this list and, as UNexpexted, won:

Headquarters:

2 Overlords: Phaeron (you have no idea how much a charging unit of twenty warriors can do to an already weakened (from shooting) unit), warscythe, sempiternal weave, tescerract labyrinth (won me the game with the, mindshackle scarabs, phase shifter

2 Veilteks (in the Phaeron units for aggresive mobility)

2 Pulsetek (not of more use than their staff sisnce he didn't bring any longshooters) (in the somewhat more defensive Lord units)

2 Lords: warscythe, mindshackle scarabs (again, really good for counter combat), sempiternal weave, tesceract labyrinth (really fun to use against wounded monstrous creatures), rescurruction orb (skipped the phase shifter because I thought I wouldn't need it because of not getting to combat (or trying to))

Troops:

4 units of 20 Warriors

With that simple list I actually won! Maybe it was my friend who prepared for something else, because I really didn't have much of counter for anything. We played Purge the Alien and he actually didn't manage to get down a single of my units! And he WAS lucky with his dice rolls. But since he probably prepared for heavy infantry and vehicle, there wasn't much he could do. I don't think tjat would be a very viable list against most armies that have any kind of anti infantry. Pretty fun to blast him down entirely though! If he wouldn't have surrendered at the beginning of turn 7 I would have blasted his last unit of the table.

But, coupled with resscuruction orbs and maybe some ghost arks, warrior blobs can do wonders with their epic survivability and neverending firepower. Should probably be picked with other more powerful units.'

Hope this helped!

Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high

Pop 2 Annihilation Barges on list 1, and you'll have one heck of an army. Use the leftover 20 points to give your Overlord Phaeron, so you can rapid fire with all your warriors, then charge the blob at the weakened target.
Those arcs will keep the blob healthy, barring template and blast weapons at least....target those first.

The Silver Lances: 4000 pts
The Custodes Winter Watch 4000 pts
