I've been running some nobs with kombi-skorchas in smaller games, and they seem pretty good.
either for drive-by flaming or just assaulting, the str5 is awesome even though you can use it only once per nob (you can alternate them though)

Flamer weapons have become alot more tasty this edition.
My Warboss carries one, and there's normaly one or two more in the Nobs squad.
You loose one potential attack in close combat, but it's a fair trade-off.

Not quite as useful on MegaNobs though sadly.

Why would you say they're not as good on Meganobs? Do they replace the PK?

I'm just thinking with orks low BS, a flamer template thats guaranteeing hits is much more reliable than rollings 5s and 6s to hit.

Just because MegaNobs are Slow and Purposeful, so can't fire Overwatch.
Sometimes you just don't have a chance to use the template, so it's nice to cause a bit of overwatch damage. Not as effective as firing it properly, but better than not getting to use it at all.

im building my biker boss with one just for the sheer fact that the rules do not say i cannot have it along with a bike, it simply says i cannot fire both dakkaguns and shoota. Cool, dakkadakka at range, get 1-3 inches so i can charge next phase, and BURN BABY BURN then charge lol

Skorchas do not use BS skills, so its awesome to have a kombi of them if you can since, as orks anyway, getting regular skorchas is hard. Theyre either in a bad group (lootas, kommandos) or have to be ferried by a BW and hope to god it doesnt go boom.

EDIT: I would still take them on meganobs just because TL shootas dont help in close combat either and they still dont get overwatch. Orks are bullies, i want my meganobz to walk up to the infantry and go "Hello..."

Awesome. I'll use them in some games; let's see what they get me. also, If you get them a pk AND an kombi weapon and other stuff, will they be too expensive?

I'd seriously think long and hard about taking templates on your assaulty unit. Can easily wind up being stuck in the open due to killing off your assault target/ putting yourself out of range.

I have felt the hot fury of the kombi-skorcha this week. It displeased me. So yeah I think they are worth it, even for one shots.

So? Theyre 2+ saves. unless something big goes at them the odds of them dying are very very low. And if i can instapaste a whole squad or enough to send them packing without a charge, cool i dont care. Still got good use out of a 1time attack.

this is the only use for Ghazzy now. On his WAAAGH! he makes them relentless instead, allowing for overwatch. Incredibly situational yes, but its still out there
