Are you allowed to give magical armor to a shaman? Mainly, I never see anyone giving him any/ what is a good armor/ ward save to have for him so that he stays alive for a little while?

No, you aren't. There are a couple exceptions: Chaos Sorcerers can take Magic Armor that is listed as being Chaos Armor, and there are/used to be a couple pieces of armor that say/said "can be worn by a wizard." The normal rule is that the armor cancels out their ability to cast spells. Give your orc shaman the talisman of protection for a 4++.

Another exception is Vampires, as they can take normal armour as part of their army list options. So hulking melee blender vampires in ridiculously good armour who are also level 4 casters is common. The rule Magical Interference prohibits wizards using spells if they take magic armour unless they have the option for some kind of mundane armour in their army list options, or as said above, the armour specifically says it can be taken by wizards.

a Wizard can only take magic armor if he has access to mundane armor as his normal options or basic wargear, or the armor explicitly allows a wizard to wear it.
The only Wizards that can wear armor at this point in time, IIRC, are Chaos Sorcerors, Vampires, and Ogres. And Empire had a suit of magic armor for wizards, not sure if they still have it or not.
And it has to be a specific piece of armor to unlock magic armor. Having an armor save doesn't count. So mounts and special rules(like Scaly Skin) don't give you access to magic armor.

Ogre slaughtermasters can also take magic armour as they have access to ironfists. This is one of the most ridiculous "exceptions" in the game.

Meh, not really. Gutmagic differs significantly from the inferior magics of thinlings. Its actually the Ogre channeling the power of the Maw itself, not him drawing upon the Winds.
Its more like Waaaagh magic, it draws upon the energy of the Waaaagh. Not the Winds.

Unfortunately, that would mean that Orcs should be able to wear armor and cast, if GM is like WM and they aren't like the Winds-this isn't the case. It really is a case of GW making a poor ruling, and riding it out instead of fixing it.

Sometimes fluff makes it into the rules, sometimes it doesn't.

Didn't they even say in the first FAQ that in the spirit of the game, he shouldn't be wearing armour, but because the iron fist grants an armour save, RAW says he can?
I mean, it's nice they didn't just make a ruling that goes against RAW and kept it consistent, but it wasn't intentional at all.

Nah, its really just evidence that Jervis got overruled as to the ruling and is butthurt about it.

Well yeah, but it's not an incident of fluff making it into the game intentionally. Just an oversight by Jervis that allowed armour on something he didn't intend armour available on.
