Anyone know how to post pics in a thread while using the ipad?

You cannot do it directly from the ipad (or iphone), at least yet.

You need to download the pics to a desktop computer first (or have the hosted somewhere else online first and then pull them from there).

Sorry!

It sucks. I take pictures on my iPhone, email them to myself, then upload them from the laptop.

Yes for some reason apple want to keep you locked down so do not allow you to upload files through a webpage, you can only upload files using an app.

I think the problem is that mobile operating systems don't have file managers, and so consequently, you can't download and upload files with them. If there's a browser for the iPad that has a file manager, you might be able to do it.

Android does it just fine, it is just iOS that tries to lock you in to their system.

Are there any ipad apps anyone knows of that would allow an upload to be easily pulled from?

I thought dropbox would work, but when I took a URL for a picture from one of my dropbox photo uploads and tried to upload it to the Dakka gallery I got the denied message from the Dakka software, so I'm assuming Drop Box doesn't allow it.

But there has to be an app that allows photos to be pulled from your ipad camera roll and automatically hosts them online, which would then allow you to pull them into the Dakka gallery.

Drop box does all of this except for the last part (seemingly doesn't allow for the online pics to be accessed directly by the Dakka software for some reason).

Android allows downloading and uploading files? I've noticed that it seems to list individual files rather than just show them a lot of the time. The ability to access the file structure from a computer is also nice.

Android ties it in to a viewer app, which on most phones is the full gallery view for photos/videos/etc. Just click upload, browse to your photo of choice and voila. You can install firefox or many other browsers for a full file browser view, and android does have a full file structure browser available as standard on most setups.

iOS I'm never going to bother trying to build a workaround in - they made it a design choice to cripple the ability to upload your own photos, and I can only assume that they will continue to cripple workarounds so it would be wasted effort on my part. Yak, any app that lets you upload a photo (including facebook) should work fine if you can then browse to the web, copy the URL of the photo and put it in our http copying gallery thingy. I'm not sure https works, but it might do. Dropbox probably have permissions requirements that break it specifically, but if you have the direct image URL I dont think facebook do.
