Lets say I wanted to take as Orks as allies.

Warboss,Bike,PK,Squig
5Nob Bikers, 2pk, banner, Painboy, Bosspole
12xLootas


It's something around 750pts for the above, and most games played are typically 1850-1999+1.

What are the reasons and why? I have a few ideas but nothing outstanding, and I'd like to get some outside opinions before making up my mind.
If nothing comes to mind that seems better than just running Boyz solo, than I'll just keep doin that.

The warboss and the nob bikers are pretty tough and an obvious close combat choice. Pairing them with a CSM or Chaos Daemons list would be outstanding.

I don't know about the Lootas though. Seems like more dakka and more effective dakka could be had cheaper in the main army list.

Most of the players I know who use Orks as allies get them for boys mobs to use as meatshields. They are cheap and create opportunities for other units to do their thing. Not saying they are essential, but it may be worth considering.

Shoota boyz meatshield mobs are not a terribly bad Idea @ the low low cost of 20 boyz for 120pts.

Lootas are great anti-Air.

They point and something tends to die.

I like the idea of pairing Orks with Tau, Chaos Space Marines, and Necrons.

In general, I think that adding a blob of 30 Boyz and a Nob with PK is ideal. That extra mob of bodies helps out lots of forces, the above three included.
