I personally think that calling people potheads because they want to smoke a joint and relax is a bit over the top. Think of it like this if you call people that smoke marijuana potheads you would also have to call all people that have a beer or two during the week after a long day at work Alcoholics.
I just don't think it's my place to say a person can't do something they enjoy as long as it isn't bringing harm to me.
Pot has side effects like all drugs, it has not had enoguh research and has been losely connected to all kinds of things, for medicinal uses it's fine recreational not.

There's been plenty of research on it, but none of it is widely acknowledged as being the "word" on it. As far as I''ve heard, all the negative effects occur after prolonged, consistent use. Also, there are multiple different ways to use marijuana, some of them more healthy than others. Vaporization, for example, has absolutely no effect on the user's lungs, and simultaneously creates a better high. Smoking is bad for you, no matter what's burning. Like D-usa mentioned, the equivalent use of alcohol or nicotene is much more detrimental to your health than a few lost brain cells and strained lung capacity. Oh my god I don't even want to type anymore. My fingers smell like apple cider vinegar, and it's wafting up from my keyboard onto my face. Oh god, what the feth this is horrible.

Well relatively recently there was a study released that found that if you smoke pot regularly before you're an adult your IQ lowers itself by quite a bit.
So basically they've managed find medical proof of the condition colloquially known as, "perma-fried."

Alcohol does not actually destroy brain cells, as is implied. It actually helps to repair neuro pathways between them.
Alcohol is good for you, in moderation.

Yes, I agree. When you start drinking excessive amounts, or excessively high proof on a regular basis, you're putting yourself at risk. Drinking a Beer with dinner is a great idea, and has a variety of benefits. I think I read somewhere that alcohol reduces the risk of clogged arteries, heart attacks, strokes and other cardiovascular problems. In fact, the biggest thing to worry about is the calories!

Generally somewhere between a persons 18th and 22nd birthday if memory serves. So really after the point where you'll get the most fun out of it.

Your brain is like a herd of elk, and a herd can is only as fast as the slowest and weakest of the group. Alcohol is much like a predator, it naturally feeds on the weakest of the brain cells first leaving only the healthy and strong cells to function. Probably not, also this is a paraphrased speech from Cliff Clayvon!

Mmm... Not really. I mean, it's legal to brew your own beer, but most people end up going to the pub because they don't want to wait a year to get pissed-up. Weed's more or less exactly the same. Who can be arsed growing gakky hydro in their loft when you could just nip down the road and pick up a few grams of professionally grown skunk at Tesco? I'd probably smoke less if you could buy it in supermarkets or whatever. Blatantly.

In Ohio at least, (possibly country), you're allowed to brew up to 200 gallons of beer for personal use a year. I still only know 2 people that do this, because Albatross is right... going to the pub is far easier.

There was me saying it would never happen, tax tax tax, but you are quite right. Buying it from the local tesco express would be better, and you can still send it back and get a refund if its a poor smoke!

Think in CO you can only have 2 potted plants "in harvest mode" at one time. Which in theory, you could have multiple paired pots in different maturity.
But, this is a lot of work to do this privately...

When I lived in Iowa as a teenager, I went back to Maine to work my uncle's farm one summer. I came back to find that the farmer we rented from had kept his cattle out of a back lot of about an acre and the whole thing had grow in with 7' weed so thick you couldn't see through it.
It was the type used for making hemp and wouldn't have been much good to smoke, but damn that stuff can be tenacious.

Sure but fermenting is pretty simple too.
Making quality ANYTHING takes a ton of work and big legal tax paying organizations will always have the benefit of economy of scale over small hobbyists.

Yeah I saw that study too and it really isn't indicative of anything.
It followed around 400 teenagers from the Netherlands that smoked 4 plus times a week from age 17 to 35 or something and they lost on average 8 IQ points.
The small sample size, evidence of abuse not use, the fact it starts with an age group NO ONE is saying should be able to smoke at, and lastly the fact most peoples IQ decreases as you age, most often from the fact most people stop challenging their brain after school is done, leads the whole study to be very suspect.
Not many people are making the claim that abusing drugs at young age will not have deleterious affects in your life.
The whole study is only slightly more valid than the one done under the Nixon administration where monkeys were hooked up to gas masks and forced to breathe only marijuana smoke for 5 minutes straight, and the resultant damage was chalked up to marijuana, not from the actual hypoxia that caused it.
I've heard that it might be up for a vote in NY next year, and I think I might go out and do something political for the first time in my life!

I'm glad to hear that NY is possibly going to put it on the ballot and let the people decide what they want. And good for you for wanting to go out and do something to further the cause for responsible marijuana smokers in your state.

Pot is only legal in Canada if it's for medical reasons, so not quite the same it would be nice to be able to get pot legally without having a medical condition be more convenient for me at least.
