Subject line sums it up. I will be entered in a tourny in April where ill be using my Warhound Titan, and a Ceastus Assault Ram. So... Can my flyer, the CAR, go inside of an enemys void shields? Or would i have to conduct a ram attack, and can you do that against void shields?

My idea is, load up my CAR with assault marines, and put a drop pod locator on it as well. Move that up in to the Titans bubble so i can disembark the assault marines with melta bombs, and pop the enemy titan. Shooty terminators with heavy weapons and chain fist can DS in as well, if needed to finish it off.

Thoughts?

The void shield doesn't keep you from approaching the Titan.

VOID SHIELDS
Certain Super-heavy vehicles of the Imperium are surrounded by a number of protective energy fields called void shields, which utilise Warp technology to displace incoming attacks. These work exactly like power fields, with the exception that collapsed void shields can be raised again. This process is slow and requires vast quantities of energy, supplies of which can be quite erratic in combat conditions. To represent this, at the end of any of its turns roll a dice for each Structure Point the vehicle has left. Any result of 5+ immediately restores one collapsed shield.

POWER FIELDS
Some Ork Super-heavy vehicles are protected by a number of energy barriers called power fields. Each hit scored against such vehicles from a distance of 12” or more will instead hit a power field. Close combat attacks against the Ork Super-heavy vehicle, and ranged attacks from a distance of less than 12” against it, come from inside the field and therefore are not stopped at all. Power fields are the equivalent of Armour value 12. Each Glancing or Penetrating hit scored against the fields causes one field to collapse. After all of the fields have collapsed, further hits are resolved against the vehicle’s own Armour value as normal.

Humm, That is good to know i guess.

So basically, the only time I need to worry about a void shield on a enemy is if I am grater then 12" away from it and shooting. With in 12" I shoot at the titan it self, and i can move flyers stright through the void shields.

Yeah, the Void only applies to shooting over 12" away.

What ever made you think it restricted movement?

Well... it was just something that popped up in my head. I can just see an enemy saying that you cant fly through it or something...

Heres another question... can i use my CAR to conduct a ram attack on void shields?

I just want to make sure if I use my titan, and my CAR i can do these things.

You can't ram void shields. Your ram would be against the titan.

Ok. Thats what i was sorta thinking as well.

I guess i just dont know much about void shields.

There was a small story in the ork codex about a Warboss riding his bike off a cliff into the cockpit of a Titan. Apparently he burst into flames when he went through the void shield, but was otherwise able to. So I guess a CAS shouldn't have a problem.

There's also the fact that he was flying at a speed fast enough that he registered as a Flying Projectile Weapon into the face of the Titan.

While normally it would pick up on the difference..It had the right idea that the ork was pretty much a threat.
