Well, don't think less of me, but I'm basically asking whether or not you would accept 'ascension' - to sacrifice your humanity for immortality and power beyond mortal comprehension by becoming a Daemon Prince? In 40k, this would be really easy: non-Chaos fans would say no, while Chaos fans would say yes. So, let's add a twist: what if it was offered IRL? Would you still accept or not?

Three questions:

1) Would I have to sacrifice thousands to get it?
2) Would it alter my perceptions or morality?
3) Could I keep my human form?

The latter, sort of. Actually, the thought I had involved waking up after a wild night with a piercing pain in your chest. Then you go to the bathroom or wherever you keep the medicine cabinet (mine's behind the mirror) and see an eight-pointed star seared on your chest and the voices in the back of your head finally clear with a single, awesome yet terrifying statement "You have pleased us..."

EDIT: Regarding your questions...

1) Naturally...unless you can find a way to impress the Powers without killing others, something only Tzeentch might approve of.
2) Definitely - an immortal by definition will eventually cease to comprehend why mortals do things. Even more so since your powers will allow you to twist reality on a whim.
3) Possibly...you can keep it as a 'shell' or a facade of sorts, kinda like the Awakened Beings from Claymore. Or something else entirely...

I certainly would, of course i would for a time keep my mortal frame as a facade then i would slowly orcestrate my rise to power and when i finally had a couple of countries i would reveal myself to be a Daemon Prince, upon that i would lead an army of millions to conquer the rest of the world. Then i would slowly withdraw into a mighty fortress and watch the world fall into Anarchy and start all over! Repeat for infinite lulz

It is my great regret that we live in an age that is proud of machines that think and suspicious of people who try to.

Nah, I can't say I'd murder people to get daemonhood. Even if I was less moral I don't think I could be bothered, and I'm not smart enough to create a web of mystery and intrigue that'd please Tzeentch. If I could become a daemon prince just through laziness that'd be great

Slaanesh might accept that...though she won't be around until M25 or so (Khorne, Tzeentch, and Nurgle have been around since 500BC or so)...but then again, she and the other Powers are supposed to exist and not exist at the same time...my head hurts

I'd take it, hands down. If I could keep my human form as a façade, I'd slowly leak more and more of my powers into full view, build a following, then go do Chaosy stuff. It's not for reasons of being all dark and feeling oppressed, I just want to the best at something for once, not just good or average, and if you're the only Daemon Prince, chances are that you're the best.
Plus, imagine the lulz to be had.

I have to thank you - this statement has allowed me to solve the conundrum as to what I should vote. Daemon Prince, simply because for once in my life, I also want to be the best

My vote went to Daemon Prince. Nurgle if you please. Everyone loves a bit of Papa Nurgle, imagine having near infinite power and being immune to all those luvverly, sticky-icky diseases you would have to propagate... Mmmmmmm.

As for the two others in the Chaos-y tri-fector, well you can keep Khorne and his mountains of moar skulls thanks. And Tzeentch is just too damn sneaky for his own good. At least Nurgle is upfront and honest(ish). Plus you could have your very own horde of these

And who wouldn't want these performing your every errand??

I had a mouthful of water I nearly spit out all over my monitor. "Spanking my plank" did me in. +1

I would also choose to stay human. The idea of living forever actually sounds kind of lame to me.

Sure why wouldn't I want to grows horn an a tail, have no true control over my actions, and be responsible for the deaths of possibly millions of people. Kill em all I say.

Kind of a whacked out question if you ask me. Even hypothetical and for fun, saying you would want to be pure evil is kind of whack.

Agreed. It's no wonder people don't like Guilliman and his ilk. They all secretly want to be daemons, and the Ultras are as opposite that sentiment as you get.

No, absolutely not. Sure, the 4 powers want you to believe you will live forever as a daemon prince but who's to say they aren't lying to you (which they most likely are). You don't really know the end story for 40k so who's to say the Emperor doesn't actually come back and destroy all the daemons in the Warp. Or who's to say the Necrons don't finally succeed in cutting off the Warp forever so you are stuck in there with guys like plague bearers to hang out with...

I don't know about you but I don't want my list of friends to consist of walking boogers.

"Khorne is a noble warrior who respects strength and bravery, who takes no joy in destroying the weak, and considers the helpless unworthy of his wrath. It is said that fate will spare any brave warrior who calls upon Khorne's name and pledges his soul to the blood god. It is also said that Khorne's daemons will hunt down and destroy any warrior who betrays his honour by killing a helpless innocent or murdering in cold blood..."

I'd love to say yes...but seeing the early post on "keeping my morality", I'd have to decline. I'm pretty sure the big guy upstairs wouldn't approve of me switching sides. So...maybe that's actually that I religiously couldn't do it. Oh well. In 40k though, I'd totally accept Daemonhood and wreck face.

Reality is a nice place to visit, but I'd hate to live there.

Of course! Dominance, power, the ability to destroy things with a look! I'd be in it for the complete anarchy one could wreck, and then rule over the remains. Plus being immortal, you can afford to wait as humanity slowly rebuilds, shaping them as they go, until you can lead them on a Crusade into there stars! (Like the Emperor, but alot more badass and he's you.)

Plus you could end up looking like Illidan Stormrage. Yourself with a few badass mutations, it doesn't have to be all out tentacles and tails

Hells yeah, I'd turn that whole being "one of untold billions" and "cruelest regime imaginable" thing sounds like a drag.

I'd turn this world into a bacchanalia that would make Slaanesh blush. Then I'd turn it into a charnel house. Then I'd go looking for another planet. feth y'all and the horse you rode in on! Chaos 4evah!
