Something made me think that this wouldn't fit into the Army Lists section, so I've put it here.

I'm planning to get my dad a decent leader for his Sisters of Army battle, seeing as his Cononess gets demolished every game we play.
Anyway, aside from St Celestine, which characters would anybody recommend? Preferably one that looks great too.

Is there any other character left for Sororitas?
IIRC Witchhunters had two, and one was taken away from them with the new WD rules.
And in 4th edition, the canoness was pretty good as a cheap character killer.

What do you have against Celestine? She is a mandatory include in any Sisters list. A brief overview of Sisters characters...

Kyrinov

Crap character except he has a 6" fearless bubble, similar to an Avatar. The bubble works for all friendly troops, so Allies (Battle Brothers and Allies of Convenience only). which is good for allied Imperial Guard squads. He also allows units he joins to reroll misses on the charge. Makes him useful for Repentia squads. Under 100 points.

Great looking model, GW Website entry

Uriah Jacobus

Great character for a melee squad such as Repentia or Battle Conclave. Confers rerolls to hit, +1 Attack and Feel no Pain. This is great, however combat squads suck in SoB armies these days. His best rule is that he allows you to reroll the number of Faith Points you get a turn. Many people think he's a mandatory take in a SoB army for this reason. I never take him. Just under 100 points.

God aweful model. GW Website Link

Saint Celestine; The Living Saint

Amazing. Jump pack, 6 AP3 attacks that roll to wound on no worse than a 4+ on the charge. 2+ 4++ saves. Heavy Flamer. That's pretty awesome on its own, however when she dies she revives on a 4+ with D3 wounds AND CAN CHARGE WHEN SHE STANDS UP!!. She's amazing for hunting down shooty units such as Devastators. I also have used her to great success to hold up Grey Knight terminator squads. Sure, I can't kill them, but they can't kill me either... All for just over 110 points.

Also, great model. GW Website Link

Honorable mention - Gun Slinging Canoness

For 100 points you can get a Canoness with 2 Plasma Pistols or Inferno Pistols (melta pistols) and Melta Bombs. he confers Prefered Enemy and +1 Initiative to the unit she joins. This is my choice for a 2nd HQ (after the living Saint.

So, my recommendations are Celestine (despite the fact you didn't want her for some reason) or a Gunslinger Canoness (will need some converting).

Should have made myself more clear, I was considering St Celestine, but he's going more for a fanatics army and only has the 3rd edition Codex. Thanks for the help anyway.

His main problem is the fact that every game his HQ has to be pitted against my Avatar which steamrolls over his Canoness every time.

So I guess it's just the fact that the SoB don't really have monster-mashing characters then... GW really need to do something about that.

Celestine will beat an Avatar... Slowly. However my usual solution to MCs is to Exorcist them to death...

If the Exorcist model looks to expensive or to hard to build/paint then buy a whirlwind instead and use it as a count as Exorcist, forge world as an Exorcist that looks a lot of like the space marine whirl wind.

I don't know, I've got an absolutely murderous squad of Warlocks that tear anything to shreds in a turn or two. Combine that with my Scorpions and his army takes a good thrashing. Plus I've just got myself some Harlequins, so the only thing that'll save him now are some heavy bolters

Also, that's assuming a series of successful ressurection rolls. Around 2-3. Not a guaranteed result by any means. On average, the Avatar wins.

1000pts Daemonzilla

If you fail the resurrection roll you just roll next turn.

Didn't quite understand that... Are you asking if my Eldar have the tank? Because I don't, nor do I have a fast attack squad really. I do most of my work with my close combat units, and now that I've got my Harlequins that work'll be made a lot easier.

A top the tip of the endless spire

Well to be fair if he's using an out of date codex he'll find it hard to beat you to begin with. But that aside the SoB are a very shooty army under the WD 'dex. If you want a character other than St.Celestine then I would suggest Jacobus. Rules wise he's the best option out there, model wise he looks pretty cool wielding his shotgun... for a damned old sculpt... if its not about that then get Celestine. Or maybe you don't want Celestine in case your Dad starts winning games?

I actually found £50 on the floor today, so I'm buying him all three!
Also managed to find a Gideon Lorr model for £10, he's going to be rolling in SoB models soon, lucky git.
